Cai's ancient house

Cai's ancient house is located in Gula Town, Binyang County, Guangxi, on the edge of Liunan expressway. It is a well preserved ancient building complex, which can be called the treasure of Lingnan ancient buildings in China.

Age of construction

According to Cai's descendants, Cai's courtyard, which covers an area of more than 70 mu, was built in the Ming Dynasty. After hundreds of years of continuous renovation, it gradually formed a large scale. Unfortunately, the oldest building was destroyed in a war in the early years of Xianfeng in Qing Dynasty. Most of the existing buildings were rebuilt by Cai Lingxiao and his family in the Qing Dynasty after the ninth year of Xianfeng. Despite the ups and downs, many of them are still in good condition.

Walking into CAI's courtyard, people can't help but be attracted by the style of this antique courtyard and marvel at its architectural style and art.

The complex is divided into "old house" and "new house", with a total of three parts, all of which are three entry green brick houses. The main hall is the highest, while the second and third halls are decreasing gradually. The "new house" part of the ancient buildings is more distinctive, symmetrical art is prominent, and more reflects the dignity and prestige of the ancient house.

The inner surface of the courtyard is paved with big Bluestone or green brick, and the paving of main road and non main road also has grade difference. The houses are decorated with carved beams, painted buildings, cornices and purlins. The doors and windows are decorated with seal characters such as "Fu Lu Shou". The front door also has landscape painting and seal calligraphy.

The courtyard is also preserved with typical Western architectural features of western buildings, although the damage is more serious, but the style is still the same.

Architectural value

The whole building of Caijia courtyard is full of artistry and reflects profound cultural heritage. It is a typical representative of Lingnan dwellings in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and has high tourism development and cultural relic protection value.
