Suide County Museum

Suide County Museum is located at No.13, Jinshi lane, Mingzhou Town, Suide County, Shaanxi Province. Suide in Northern Shaanxi is known as "cultural county". Its stone carving skills are an important part of Suide culture. In Suide, many people have been good at carving for generations. The stone carving stone buildings, the nine dragon walls outside Town God's Temple, and the stone sculptures of the Eastern Han Dynasty, which are preserved in the Suide County Museum, are well-known far and near.

Development history

It's 40 kilometers from Mizhi in Shaanxi to Suide. There is a place called Shilipu between the two cities, 40 miles (20 kilometers) from Mizhi city and 40 miles (20 kilometers) from Suide City, so it's called Shilipu. On the side of national highway 210, more than 20 kilometers along the line, there are many stone carving factories, large and small. On the ground, there are dragon pillars, stone lions, stone horses, stone camels, and stone statues. It was 5:30 in the morning when we passed by. In the morning light, the suidehan who cut the stone were surrounded by the dust released by their hands, creating a dream scene.

The famous saying in Northern Shaanxi: "the mother-in-law of Mizhi, the Han Dynasty of Suide, the slate of Qingjian, the charcoal of Wayaobao." According to Mizhi County annals, Diao Chan, the beauty of the Three Kingdoms, was a Mizhi man. "Suide County annals" records: "the talented and beautiful Lu Bu is Suide people.". Since ancient times, Mizhi's mother-in-law and aunt are famous for their beauty, while Han in Suide is famous for his handsome appearance. The feelings of Suide and Han are warm, and they attach importance to emotion and righteousness. We are familiar with the "sanshilipu", "orchid", is the description and sublimation of love here. In order not to let their beloved women suffer, Suide Han people go to Xikou, Nanyang and Guandong. We didn't see any beautiful women in Mizhi. We only saw the graceful figure of Diao Chan when we passed the county. We met suidehan who focused on stone carving in Shilipu.

About 2000 years ago in the Han Dynasty, stone carving was popular here. It is said that because of this kind of blue stone, "soft and fine, very easy to carve." But we asked them about the source of the stone, and they said it was from Hanzhong. Some people beat the rough stones with a wave to cut them into suitable sizes until they fall off one by one; while the dust makers are carefully polishing the stones to make them smooth. They all wear thick gas masks to isolate the dust, but it is estimated that they will inhale a lot of fine powder in their lungs. Squatting on the wall and drawing patterns on the polished stones with a brush, it is not easy It's a more detailed work. The stonemasons in the back will carve according to the patterns he has drawn. The work of carving stones with an awl and a small hammer is the final process. They will give birth to vivid figures, animals, flowers and plants in their hands. When asked about their feelings, they said: "very tired, very tired.". Their wages are calculated on a daily basis, about 200 yuan a day. Behind the vivid stone carvings is a hard life.

architectural composition

Suide County Museum, formerly known as the cultural relics unit of the county cultural center, once held an irregular exhibition of cultural relics dating from ancient times. Since the establishment of the museum, the exhibition hall of Han Dynasty paintings and stone statues was completed in 1989 and officially opened to the public in 1992. The exhibition hall is located in the tomb area of Fusu, Prince of the Qin Dynasty. The courtyard is decorated with green cypresses, with a wide view, quiet and elegant. It covers an area of 1680 square meters. The exhibition hall covers an area of 286 square meters and consists of a hall and gallery. In the center of the hall, there are restoration models of Han tombs, sand tables of Han Tombs in Northern Shaanxi and display cabinets of Han tombs. The gallery and exhibition hall walls are inlaid with 105 pieces of Han Dynasty stone carvings. The stone relief is made of sandstone in Northern Shaanxi, hard and delicate. The exhibits are rich and colorful, vivid and elegant. The technique is to reduce the bottom of the plane in low relief, and part of it is drawn out with ink. The exhibition is divided into three parts,

The first part: social production, science and technology, military campaign.

The second part: life etiquette, nomadic hunting, cultural life, rare animals, myths and legends.

The third part: the combination of epitaph, sacrificial objects and tomb stone.

These stone reliefs show the original political, economic, military and cultural features of the frontier fortress in the Han Dynasty, and provide precious materials for the study of the national history and traditional culture and art of Northern Shaanxi in the Han Dynasty.

Collection

There are 4454 pieces in the collection of Suide County Museum, mainly including gold and silver ware, bronze ware, porcelain, pottery, jade ware, stone carving and calligraphy works. Among them, the bronze ware of Shang and Zhou dynasties has unique local cultural characteristics and precious archaeological value and artistic value.

The museum has a quarterly magazine "cultural and Museum communication" to exchange information with various cultural and Museum units in the region. In addition, there is a copy of "preliminary study of Han Dynasty stone reliefs".
