Pan Tuo stone

Pan Tuo stone is a huge stone located in Putuo Mountain, Zhejiang Province. On the platform of the top of the mountain, the boulder seems to be crumbling, but in fact it is as stable as a rock, so it is called "Pan Tuo stone". According to legend, this is where the great master Guanyin said.

brief introduction

Pantuo stone is located in gukouyan, 200 meters northwest of Jiuzi temple. There is a rock about 15 square meters slanting from south to north, with buttock seal on it. It is said that it is a holy mark left by Jindi hiding in Jiuhua when he was practicing meditation on this rock. Later generations called this "meditation stone" as "Pan Tuo stone". Today, there are cliff inscriptions of "the first practice place of jindizang" on the stone wall. Gukou mountain spring is divided into two tributaries, the East and the west, bypassing the pan Tuo stone, presenting the trend of "two dragons spitting water" and overflowing down, forming a spectacular "water curtain cave". The entrance of the cave faces the northeast. The clear spring is murmuring in the cave, and the rocks are magnificent. The cave hall can accommodate more than ten people, and the environment is very quiet. " It is said that jindizang once lived and chanted Sutras in this cave, so it is called "dizang cave". Up to now, monks often meditate in the cave.

Historical legend

It is said that this is the place where Master Guanyin said. Pan Tuo stone is formed by the combination of upper and lower rocks. The bottom of the lower stone is wide and the top is sharp, with a circumference of more than meters. The protruding place in the middle holds the upper stone, which is called "pan"; the upper stone is 2.7 meters wide, nearly 7 meters wide, with a diamond shape, which is called "Tuo".

The gap between the upper and lower stones is like a line, connecting and breaking, as if the upper stone is suspended above the lower stone. "Suspecting that the sky is flying, like a magic hand" is the most appropriate description of the rock.

It is said that someone once cut the junction of the two stones, which proves that the two stones did not meet, but now people have tried, but they have not succeeded. (it's said that every time on the first day of the lunar new year, the stone will float, and it can be cut across with a very thin silk thread.)
