Yuandi Village

Yuandi village is located in the west of Longquan City, the ancient city of mountains and rivers, in Shanglong town on the border of Zhejiang and Fujian, 30 kilometers away from the urban area, 53 provincial road passing along the village, with convenient transportation. The village has a population of 2200, 522 rural households, 1745 mu of arable land and 21067 mu of paddy field. In 2002, the total income of agricultural economy was 8.25 million yuan, and the per capita net income was 3089 yuan. The well-off village was realized in 2000. Yuandi village has always witnessed a large number of celebrities. Since ancient times, Yuandi people have been industrious in farming, thrifty in running their homes, paying attention to etiquette and accumulating family property. Since the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty, they have invited skillful craftsmen to build houses and buy real estate, and reached its peak in the end of Qing Dynasty, forming today's Yuandi Ming and Qing Dynasty ancient architectural complex.

In May 2018, Yuandi village was included in the scope of central financial support for traditional Chinese villages.

On December 25, 2019, Yuandi village was rated as a national forest village.

A brief introduction to the village

Yuandi village of Shanglong town is the largest administrative village in Longquan City. There are 21 villager groups, 575 households and 2023 people in the village. The cultivated land area is 1874.3 mu, and the forest land area is 21067 mu, including 4891 mu of Phyllostachys pubescens. In 2012, the total income of the village was 2016 million yuan, and the per capita income was 8202 yuan.

Yuandi village is surrounded by shanpiyang in the East, chaoxiashan in the west, and Pleiades in the north. Guixi river is clear and flows eastward through the village. It is hard to leave a flat land in the south. The terrain is relatively flat and the land is relatively fertile. The whole village is a trumpet shaped Canyon Village, with mountains and waters against each other, white walls and green tiles scattered, ancient trees and fruit trees interspersed, wild birds and poultry singing each other, which truly achieves the extreme harmony between man and nature. The main road of the village is north-south, Guixi divides the village into East and west sides, and the cottages are agglomerated along the stream. The old street in the west district is well preserved. Xu Yangshan's former residence and Xu's ancestral hall are all in this district, with old firewalls, stone and cobble pavements. The villages on both sides of the East and the West are relatively complete, with 24 ancient dwellings and other buildings. Part of the village houses still retain the traditional style and historical pattern.

Yuandi is a mountain village with a long history and glorious tradition of revolutionary struggle. It is the hometown of Xu Yangshan, a revolutionary of 1911. The "fairyland in the depths of white clouds and the family in the peach blossom garden" is a model of ancient residential buildings in Longquan. Represented by Xu Yangshan's former residence, they are all "four rivers return to the hall". Walking into the ancient dwellings, you can see the patio. The long and narrow patio among the four high walls makes the old house more gloomy and dreary. Since modern times, Yuandi village has witnessed a large number of talented people, including the former residence of Xu Yangshan, a martyr of the 1911 Revolution. His former residence and Xu's ancestral hall were designated as cultural relics protection units by Longquan Municipal People's Government in July 2000.

Yuandi ancient residence is located in the center of Yuandi village. Guixi River, which originated from Longtou mountain, extends gently in the village and forms a trumpet shape at the entrance of the village. In front of the entrance of the trumpet, there is a turtle in the form of a small hill, which is called "Guishan". The ancients chose this place to live and build a family, which means that the fertile water does not flow out of the farmland. The ancient dwellings are built in Guixi, which are distributed in blocks. They are surrounded by lush vegetation, green bamboos and shady fir forests. The village is surrounded by mountains and water. It is quiet and elegant. Entering the village, it seems to be in a fairyland.

There are 36 ancient houses in Yuandi Ming and Qing Dynasties, with a construction area of 27370 square meters. The preservation degree of the original appearance is 90%. Among them, four ancient houses, such as Xu's ancestral hall, are 95% well preserved, which is of great academic value for the study of the architecture of Zhejiang and Fujian mountains in Ming and Qing Dynasties. The architectural style of "four rivers return to the hall" fully reflects the architectural ideas of ancient China in the south of the Yangtze River. It is magnificent, quiet and elegant, and harmonious with the surrounding landscape. Yuandi village is known as "a fairyland in the depths of white clouds, a family in the peach blossom Garden".

The former residence of Xu Yangshan, a martyr of the 1911 Revolution, is well preserved in the Yuandi ancient building complex, leaving behind the touching story of Xu Jingwu's founding of Longquan granary, relief to the victims and setting up a school. In recent years, Yuandi village attracts tourists from all over the world to explore with its unique cultural atmosphere and ancient architecture culture.

Protection management

Shanglong town attaches great importance to the protection and management of Yuandi ancient dwellings. It has invested a lot of manpower, material resources and funds to strengthen the protection, repair, management and publicity of ancient dwellings. It has set up a special management organization, equipped with cultural security personnel, implemented strict management methods and measures, and started the planning and construction of Yuandi new village. In 2003, the town government will implement a small watershed ecological project in Yuandi village, with an investment of more than 2 million yuan to comprehensively renovate the rivers, roads and farmland, so as to create good conditions for the lasting protection of ancient dwellings and tourism development. Yuandi village will attract tourists from all over the world to explore with its unique humanistic atmosphere and ancient architectural culture.
