Qianlong stele in Tangqi

Tangqi Qianlong stele is located on the west side of Jesus church, Shuibei street, North Bank of Guangji Bridge, Tangqi Town, Yuhang District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. The stele was erected on the second day of the first month in 1751. The stone tablet is 3.35 meters high, 1.4 meters wide and 0.5 meters thick; the body of the tablet is added with a forehead and engraved with stone inscriptions of two dragons grabbing pearls, 1 meter high and 1.5 meters wide; under the body of the tablet is a pedestal, which is 1.1 meters high, 1.8 meters wide and 1 meter thick. The height of the whole monument is 5.45 meters. The body of the stele is 429 words and the inscription is 10 words. The inscriptions are engraved with cloud and dragon patterns.

In the past, Shuibei street was under the jurisdiction of Deqing County and hang county respectively. Taking this stele as the boundary, the east of the stele was hang County, and the west of the stele was Deqing County. In addition, the monument was built into the wall by the residents, only the top part was exposed, and the whole picture could not be seen. Therefore, for a long time, people have always regarded this monument as the boundary monument between the two counties.

Cultural relics protection

In 1985, the Tangqi District Cultural Station conducted a general survey of cultural relics. It felt that this monument was not like a boundary monument only from the forehead. Several times, it climbed up to observe and recognized the word "Qinzhi". At that time, it drafted a text to reflect to the county and town. At that time, Tangqi town annals had just begun to be compiled. The compilation Department of town annals immediately investigated the stele on the spot and expanded the characters on the stele one by one. After several months, it was finally verified that this monument was actually a royal monument. In 1751, Emperor Hongli visited the south to investigate the payment of imperial grain in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui provinces. It is found that there are huge arrears in Jiangsu and Anhui provinces, but Zhejiang Province has not. In recognition of Zhejiang Province, the emperor, with a stroke of his pen, exempted 300000 liang of grain and money from the local people. And the "oracle" carved stone, told the officials and the people.

In April 2002, the people's Government of Tangqi town invested more than 200000 yuan to demolish the houses beside the imperial Monument and move the residents living there, making the long dusty imperial monument of Qianlong visible again.
