Tomb of Zhao Mengfu

Zhao Mengfu's tomb is located in the south of stage mountain, Dongheng village, Luoshe town. Zhao Mengfu (1254-1322), born in Wuxing, Zhejiang Province (now Huzhou), was a famous calligrapher and painter in the Yuan Dynasty. He was good at calligraphy and painting. He changed the style of the Academy in the Southern Song Dynasty, founded the painting style of the Yuan Dynasty, and refined poetry and seal cutting. From the late Southern Song Dynasty to the early Yuan Dynasty, officials, calligraphers, painters and poets were very famous in the Yuan Dynasty.

Architectural structure

His wife, Guan Daosheng (1262-1319), was a painter of Yuan Dynasty. According to the records of Huzhou Prefecture in Wanli of Ming Dynasty, "Zhao Mengfu's tomb is in Hengli, North East of Deqing County.". There are round mounds and tombstones in the original tomb, but only one stone horse remains. In 1992, a stone slab double chambered tomb 3 meters long and 2.6 meters wide and a Shinto 11 meters wide were found at a depth of 1.5 meters from the earth's surface. Two pieces of Shinto, 2.2 meters high and 0.8 meters wide, and two stone horses, 2.7 meters long and 1.5 meters high, were unearthed at a distance of about 30 meters from the tomb. In 1993, the cemetery was restored. Now the cemetery covers an area of 3000 square meters. It is built close to the mountain and faces south. The front of the cemetery is a platform with a strong tombstone. The platform is stepped up and connected with Shinto. There are no stone horses and stone wengzhong on both sides of Shinto. According to historical records, Zhao Mengfu and his wife Guan were buried here. It is a famous tourist attraction in Deqing.

Protection status

After restoration in 1993, the cemetery covers an area of 3000 square meters. It is built on the mountain and faces south. There are stone horses and stone wengzhong on both sides of the Shinto. It was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Zhejiang Province on August 29, 1997, and the seventh batch of national key cultural relic protection units in May 2013.
