Longsheng Autonomous County is located in the northeast of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, in the southwest of Yuechengling mountains, on the border of Hunan and Guangxi. The straight-line distance between Longsheng Town and Nanning, the capital of the autonomous region, is 371km, and the highway mileage is 531km. It is 63 km from Guilin and 87 km from Guilin. It is one of the major tourism counties in Guilin tourism circle. The national highway 321 from Guangzhou to Chengdu passes through Longsheng. It is the throat and material distribution center for Southwest Hunan, Southeast Guizhou and Sichuan to enter Guangxi.

It is a typical mountainous county with an average altitude of 700-800 meters, an annual average temperature of 18.1 ℃, an annual frost free period of 317 days, an average annual precipitation of 1544 mm, no severe cold in winter and no severe heat in summer. It is a subtropical monsoon climate with rich forest and mineral resources.

Nanshan, known as the "roof of Longsheng", is a natural grassland with gentle and open terrain and the widest Alpine plain in Longsheng. Located in the north of Longsheng, it is closely linked with the Nanshan scenic spot in Chengbu, Hunan Province, and is known as "Hulunbeier in southern China".

Longsheng Nanshan grassland

It covers an area of more than 50000 mu, with an altitude of 1500-1700 meters. Along the lush Nanshan highway, you can enter the high grass slope area. The sea of clouds is full of splendor and purity. The four seasons on the mountain are not distinct. Except for the short-term snow covered winter, almost all of them have a pleasant spring and autumn climate. Therefore, Nanshan is the best place for summer vacation. Physiologically speaking, Nanshan is called "tabletop mountain" (that is, the top of the mountain presents an ancient planation surface like the tabletop). Of course, this "desktop" is not a whole piece, but a large platform composed of flat headed hillsides or wide ridges. On a sunny day, visitors can see the cattle and sheep on the platform and hear the clear-cut pastoral songs.

Nanshan is rich in water and grass. The land is fertile and sunny. There is a big temperature difference between morning and night. There is no pollution and no invasion of diseases and pests. The milk, beef, mutton, fruits and vegetables produced here are the most delicious and pure all green food. Nanshan pear is a treasure among pears. Because it is especially sweet and tender, it is called "Nanshan sugar pear". Nanshan is the largest pollution-free vegetable production base in Guangxi. Nanshan radish is as sweet and crisp as sweet potato. Because it is listed in midsummer, it is especially popular as a food to relieve summer heat.

Nanshan Hydropower Station under construction is the largest hydropower station in Longsheng. Its sparkling reservoir and its milky way like meandering canal will add new scenery to the pastoral Nanshan.

Special festivals

1. "Red clothes Festival"

The "red clothing festival" is the biggest and most solemn festival for Hongyao compatriots in Longsheng. On this day, Hongyao compatriots gather with people of other nationalities for cultural and trade exchanges.

The "red clothes Festival" is scheduled to be held every year on the eighth day of the fourth month of the lunar calendar, with a total of seven sessions. The contents of the "red clothes Festival" include women's firecracker snatching, Yao, Miao, Dong, Zhuang and other ethnic minority song and dance performances, and Yao women's long hair competition. Among them, women's firecracker snatching is developed from the original firecracker snatching activities, which is the first activity in the county. In addition to Longsheng hot spring, which has the reputation of "heaven and earth", and Longsheng terrace, which is known as "one of the best in the world", Longsheng tourism has a great advantage of integrating Miao, Yao, Dong, Zhuang and other ethnic customs. By holding the "red clothes Festival", we can fully understand and appreciate the colorful folk customs of Longsheng in a relatively short period of time .

2. Baimianyao Village

Baimianyao village is located on the side of the highway six kilometers away from Longsheng hot spring, where 35 Hongyao villagers live. The maple trees are towering at the edge of the village. There are stone tablets of the Qing Dynasty at the gate of the village. The "red Yao pillar" standing in front of the village is the totem worship of the Yao people. Everyone in the village knows folk songs and is hospitable. When visitors come to the Yao village, Yao girls in colorful costumes sing folk songs to welcome you, offering you their unique dance and traditional national sports.

3. Sanmen Yao Village

Located 10 kilometers away from Longsheng hot spring, the village is close to mountains and rivers with simple folk customs. Here you will witness and experience mulberry planting, silkworm rearing, artificial weaving and Yao embroidery.

4. Ximen Yao Village

Ximen Yao village is located on the road from Longsheng to Wenquan, 8 kilometers away from Longsheng Wenquan. It is an ancient Yao village. The terraces in front of the village are winding like dragons. There are crisscross bluestone roads in the village, and the streams and springs behind the village are murmuring.

Yao nationality's ancient folk songs and dances and thick pearl camellia oil tea are excellent for entertaining guests. Song and dance programs include: colorful group dance, playing Ciba, long drum dance, sending the bride, etc.

5. Brief introduction of huangluoyao Village

Huangluoyao village is located in Longji scenic area. It is the only Yao village in Longji thirteen villages, where all the red Yao people live. Since ancient times, Hongyao women have the traditional habit of storing long hair. Among the 60 families in the village, 60 have hair more than one meter long, and the longest one is 1.9 meters, which is "the longest hair in Guinness group"

6. Brief introduction of jinzhuzhuang Village

Jinzhuzhuang village is located in Longji scenic area, Heping Township, Longsheng County, about 17 kilometers away from the county. It is named for its golden bamboo forest. Jinzhu Zhuang village is a typical Zhuang village, which was praised as a model by UNESCO in 1992. When tourists come to Jinzhu Zhuang village, they can see the simple Zhuang folk dance, hear the beautiful Zhuang folk songs and enjoy the original Zhuang customs.
