Xishan Scenic Spot is located in the Xishan Scenic Spot of Nanling County, Wuhu City, also known as Yashan scenic spot. Xishan Scenic area covers an area of more than 20 square kilometers. Yashan Peony

Xishan is also known as the "hometown of peony". Every time around the Qingming Festival, there are lots of beautiful flowers and plants blooming among the wonderful stones. No wonder some people praise it: "why go to Luoyang to enjoy the flowers? The beauty of the country and the beauty of the west mountain.". The peony in Xishan Scenic Area is different from other peonies in that the peonies are not used for viewing, but for the needs of social and economic life of local residents. According to local scholars, the planting history of peony in Xishan can be traced back to before the Tang Dynasty. Because of the poor soil, thin soil layer and poor soil quality in Xishan area, it is difficult to grow crops. In order to survive, ancient ancestors gradually formed the tradition of planting peony in the state of natural selection. The root of peony is used as medicine, named Cortex Moutan. The local villagers also sell the peony as the main source of income. Therefore, when ordinary people get entertainment by prolonging the flowering period, the villagers in Xishan pinch the flowers early in order to make the peony root grow further. But even so, when peonies bloom in mid April, residents from nearby come in droves to see them in full bloom.

Xishan peony is not only famous for its beautiful scenery, but also for its medicinal cortex. Li Bai, a great poet, once lived here and wrote the well-known poem "farewell to children in Nanling". Celebrities such as Wei Yingwu and Tang Xianzu also left traces here. Nanshan Temple in the scenic area was originally named Lingyan temple. It is said that it was built here by King Jin qiaojue of Tibet who came to Jiuhua Mountain. Xishan Scenic Spot has become a unique tourist attraction with its elegant and graceful appearance.

Xishan spirit stone

Because the Xishan Scenic Area is mostly limestone mountain, under the action of natural effects such as orogeny, karst erosion, rain erosion and natural weathering, the Xishan Scenic Area has formed a very rich volume of stone forest and stone forest group. Xishan stone forest is not only large in size, but also vivid, different in shape and different in shape. Taking Xishan Village stone forest as an example, Xiadang Village stone forest is characterized by various hieroglyphic stones in bedding, fissures and other geological conditions; Xiaoyuan village and Dayuan village are characterized by large-scale stone forest groups; while the stone forest in the northwest of Xishan village is characterized by rugged and strange rocks , not all of them. What's more special is that in the long-term production and life, local residents use the tiny space in the cracks of the stone forest to plant peony. From a distance, it looks like the peony grows on the stone. The flowers are set on the stone, and the stone is based on the flower, which is complementary and mutually beneficial, forming a unique west mountain landscape. Xishan stone forest has been listed as one of the "ten scenic spots in Wuhu" and named "Xishan spirit stone".
