Basic overview

Hutouyu reservoir is known as the first reservoir in Taiwan, China. It was built in 1846, with a water area of about 27 hectares. It is backed by mountains and faces water. The highest part along the coast is about 70 meters, and the deepest part of the water is about 40 meters. It was originally used as an irrigation reservoir to supply water for irrigation of more than 500 hectares of agricultural land. After the earthquake in 1906, it was repaired and erected a monument for half a year In 1939, it was renamed hutouyu scenic spot. In 1954, it was selected as "hutoupan moon" by Tainan Municipal literature Committee. It is one of the eight scenic spots in Nanying, and has the reputation of xiaoriyue lake.
