Qilianyu

Seven Lian Yu is located in the northeast of the Paracel Islands, China. It is the whole name of the big reef in the island of Zhao Shu Dao.

In the narrow sense (early meaning), qilianyu refers to the seven connected islands of zhaoshudao, Beidao, Zhongdao, Nandao, beishazhou, zhongshazhou and nanshazhou. Qilianyu in a broad sense is the overall name of the reef where zhaoshudao and other islets are located. It also includes xishazhou, zhaoshumen, dongxinshazhou, xixinshazhou and their adjacent reefs.

Qilianyu Management Committee of Sansha city is located in zhaoshudao.

China plans to reclaim land from qilianyu island in Xisha. The land area will be expanded more than ten times from 1.32 square kilometers to 15 square kilometers (the eastern area of Hong Kong Island is 18.9 square kilometers). It also plans to build an airport and a cross sea bridge to connect Yongxing island. There is an artificial land connection between North Island and middle island in Qilian island.

Qilianyu is a group name. The range has changed twice.

1) Fishermen were originally referred to as Shazhou, Zhongsha, Beisha, Nandao, Zhongdao and Beidao, while Hainan fishermen were referred to as Qilian Island (possibly including Zhaoshu Island, a total of seven).

2) When it was named in 1983, the East New sandbank and West New sandbank formed by typhoon in 1972 based on the same reef were assigned to qilianyu, and qilianyu was determined as the standard name.

3) In 1987, with the approval of the State Council, zhaoshudao and xishazhou also belonged to qilianyu.

Therefore, Qilian island in a broad sense refers to the overall name of the reef where zhaoshu island is located. It is the whole reef of Qilian island and its ten small islands, namely xishazhou, Zhaoshu Island, Beidao, Zhongdao, sanshizai, Nandao, beishazhou, zhongshazhou, nanshazhou and Xixin Shazhou. In a narrow sense, Qilian Island generally refers to seven small islands, namely Zhaoshu Island, North Island, middle island, South Island, North sandbank, middle sandbank and South sandbank.

After the establishment of the city

In October 2007, a village committee was set up on zhaoshu island of qilianyu. After the election of more than 60 households and more than 200 fishermen on the island, Liang Feng became the first village director.

On May 19, 2013, China Post Group issued a set of 6 "beautiful China" ordinary stamps, one of which is "Sansha qilianyu".

On May 10, 2014, the leading group of Sansha city deeply carried out the party's mass line education and practice activities. Together with the designers, they boarded the middle island of qilianyu to investigate the design scheme of the connecting lines of the North Island, the middle island and the South Island.

In March 2015, the officers and police of Sansha Public Security Frontier detachment officially stationed in zhaoshudao to take charge of the sovereignty maintenance and public security jurisdiction of qilianyu and serve the local economic development.

On February 19, 2016, the Xisha landscape investigation team of Sansha Municipal Bureau of land resources and environmental protection came to qilianyu to investigate the design of island and reef landscape.

Seven Lian Yu refers to the total name of islands, reefs and sandbars in China's Paracel Islands, which are 55 degrees north to 16 degrees north latitude, 55 to 17 degrees, 00 degrees east, 112 degrees 12 to 112 degrees 21. The islands and reefs of qilianyu island are closely linked, like pearls. They are located in the northern half of Xuande atoll in the middle of Xuande archipelago, only 4 nautical miles away from the reef of Yongxing Island Shidao in the south of Xuande Atoll. Due to their small size, low-lying and lack of fresh water, these islands are basically barren beaches with few plants because of their small size and frequent storm surge attack and erosion.

Qilianyu reef consists of two relatively separated plates: zhaoshudao xishazhou plate in the west, Beidao nanshazhou plate in the East and zhaoshumen plate in the middle. The west block has a large and promising site and can be reclaimed on a large scale. If the reclamation technology is further developed in the future, the land area here can exceed that of Yongxing island.

Qilianyu has high temperature all year round, no obvious seasonal difference, frequent disastrous weather, mostly tropical cyclone, rainstorm, gale and drought.

The storm wave caused by typhoon has a great impact on some sandbanks, and even the sandbanks can be relocated as a whole. Fishermen and investigators once found that after several typhoons, several sandbanks disappeared on qilianyu Island, while new sandbanks grew in another location nearby. In recent years, due to typhoon, two new sandbanks have been formed in the southernmost area: West New sandbank and East New sandbank.

The bad weather can't stop the fishermen from coming here. In the North Island of qilianyu, there are more than 100 fishermen when they gather more, and about 40 when they are less. Because there are so many fish in this area. Deng's proposal and decision to recover the Lost Island

natural resources

There are not only hundreds of species of plankton, but also more than 400 kinds of well-known fish and economic fish in qilianyu area. Grouper, shark, tuna, spiny tailed fish, butterfly fish and humphead fish are common. Within 5 meters of the reef, there are all kinds of valuable snails, such as Tridacna. Lobsters are also common.

Qilianyu coral ecosystem restoration, protection and development demonstration area has a reef area of 25 square kilometers and a lagoon area of about 2 square kilometers.

In the past, China Construction island has been greening for many years.

In 2013, Sansha city accelerated the first phase of island greening project, planting more than 3500 green trees on small islands such as Yagong Island, Lingyang reef, Yinyu island and Jinqing island.

In July 2014, on the occasion of the second anniversary of the establishment of Sansha City, Sansha started the second phase of island greening project. Taking xishazhou as a pilot project, Sansha launched the "Green Island" campaign in an all-round way, planting more than 1500 Casuarina plants on xishazhou. Today, green has gradually covered the West sandbank.

Major islands

Xishazhou

Xishazhou is located about 3 nautical miles west of zhaoshu island. It is an expanding sandbank with white sand on it.

Because of the thick sand layer, Xisha island is conducive to the preservation of fresh water. Therefore, a clear spring can be obtained by digging this island. Because it faces northwest, the coastal water is very fast. It is about 800 meters long from east to west, 400 meters wide from north to south, covering an area of 0.24 square kilometers and an altitude of about 2 meters. It is the third largest island in Xuande archipelago.

The white coral sand is all over the island, and the reefs around are relatively broad. The thick sand layer on the sandbank contains extremely rich fresh water, which has always been a place for fishermen to replenish fresh water.

The nearby sea area is rich in aquatic resources. It produces sea turtles, sea cucumbers, Tridacna, horseshoe snails and other seafood. It is one of the breeding bases for sea turtles and the first stop for Hainan fishermen to go fishing in Xisha. There is a reef pond with a depth of 3-6 meters on the reef in the east of the sandbank, which is full of various colorful antler corals, which is of great tourist value.

Zhao Shudao

Zhao Shudao is located in the north of Yongxing island. It was named Zhao Shudao in 1947 to commemorate zhao shu's mission to sanfoqi in Ming Dynasty. The island is Pipa shaped, oval, with a 170 meter long sand mouth. It is about 700 meters long from east to west and 450 meters wide from north to south. It covers an area of about 0.22 square kilometers, with an altitude of 4.4 meters. Beach rocks are developed in the East, North and south.

The island is covered with grass, seaweed and other plants, green trees, conducive to seabirds habitat, so the formation of a light brown bird manure and a piece of hard disk phosphorous lime soil. Lighthouses, tile roofed houses and pools of natural rainwater have been built in the central and western regions of China. Hainan fishermen have settled down on the island for a long time. North Island

Beidao, also known as Changzhi, is located in the north of Yongxing Island, about 2 nautical miles northwest of zhaoshu island.

The island is long and narrow, with a northwest southeast trend. It is more than 1500 meters long and 290 meters wide, covering an area of about 0.4 square kilometers. It is 3-4 meters high and surrounded by sand dikes. The middle part of the island is a dry lagoon, accounting for half of the island area.

There are shrubs and bird droppings on the island, so fresh water is not drinkable. There are temporary housing construction, and a small stone temple.

Due to the strong northeast wind, the reef on the northeast side of the island contains more oxygen in the sea. The coral reef grows better, higher than that on the southwest side. It can be exposed to the sea at low tide and becomes an area rich in aquatic products. It is the largest island in Qilian Island.

The northwest is higher, with an altitude of 3-4 meters; the southeast is low, often submerged by sea tide. The North Island is surrounded by sand dikes, 80 meters wide and composed of coral shells and sand debris. Outside the sandbank is the reef flat, and inside there is a depression formed by the dry lagoon, with shrubs mainly composed of grass and Pittosporum, which is a paradise for seabirds. There are gaps in the northwest, southwest and South Bank of the island, which is the channel for turtles to enter the island, known as "turtle gate". The North Island is one of the main producing areas of turtles in the South China Sea.

Nakajima

Located 0.5 nautical miles southeast of the North Island, the middle island gets its name because it lies between the North Island and the South Island. Hainan fishermen call it "Shizhi".

Oval shape, about 700 meters long and 250 meters wide, covering an area of about 0.2 square kilometers; the island is about 6 meters high above sea level, surrounded by high, medium and low terrain, surrounded by sandbanks, and the lagoon in the middle has dried up. The sand dike is about 60 meters wide and 4 meters high. There are reefs, shoals and rocks outside the dike. In the middle of the dike, there are lowlands formed by the dry lagoon. The vegetation is dense shrub dominated by Pittosporum fordii, with seabirds living in groups. The accumulation layer of bird dung is thin, and the water quality is good
