Chenjiadong Grottoes

Chenjiadong grottoes are located on the natural cliff 2.5km northeast of Chenbao village, Tonghua Township, Zhuanglang County, Pingliang City, Gansu Province. On May 25, 2006, yunya temple and chenjiadong grottoes, as cultural relics from the northern and Southern Dynasties to the Yuan Dynasty, were approved by the State Council to be listed in the Sixth Batch of national key cultural relics protection units.

Chenjiadong Grottoes is a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit in Gansu Province. It is located 30 kilometers northeast of Zhuanglang County. It is made of natural cliffs. There are 9 niches. Most of them are clay sculptures and colored paintings from the Song Dynasty. The most well preserved, artistic and cultural relics are the three cliff statues carved on a huge stone in the Taihe period of Jin Dynasty, which have strong western ethnic characteristics. Standing on another huge stone, the seven level exquisite pagoda built in the Tang Dynasty is set against the three giant Buddhas. The scenic spot has beautiful scenery and lush trees. A Qingxi River from the watershed of Guanshan Mountain flows through the front of the cave. The cliffs of the North cliff are towering and the dangerous rocks are flying in the air. The water at the bottom of the valley is murmuring and the nether world is far away. In summer and autumn, the wind is gentle and the pines are surging. The "Dongxia pines wind" recorded in the local records belongs to this realm.

On May 25, 2006, yunya temple and chenjiadong grottoes, as cultural relics from the northern and Southern Dynasties to the Yuan Dynasty, were approved by the State Council to be listed in the Sixth Batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
