Xiamen Jimei Middle School was founded on October 18, 1918 by Chen Jiageng, the patriotic leader of overseas Chinese. It has a long history and brilliant achievements. Xiamen Jimei Middle School (Xiaomen, Fujian) is one of the first batch of key middle schools in Fujian Province.

Fujian Xiamen Jimei Middle School was founded by Mr. Chen Jiageng in 1918. In July 1920, it was named "Fujian private Jimei school"; in 1938, it was called "private Jimei United middle school"; in January 1939, it was called "private Jimei Middle School"; in 1962, it was renamed "Fujian Xiamen Jimei Middle School".

As of November 2008, Xiamen Jimei Middle School in Fujian Province covers an area of 100000 square meters. There are 36 classes in senior high school, 2 classes in Xinjiang and 24 classes in junior high school, with more than 3200 students and 255 teaching staff.

Historical evolution

In March 1918 (the seventh year of the Republic of China), Mr. Tan Kah Kee, the patriotic leader of overseas Chinese, founded Jimei Middle School, which is subordinate to Jimei normal school.

In July 1920, the school was named "Fujian private Jimei school". At that time, Jimei school was a whole, with the normal school, middle school, primary school and other departments under the unified leadership of the principal.

In February 1921, the middle school broke away from the normal department and merged with the aquatic products and business departments, which was called the industrial department of the middle school. In August of the same year, the Department of industry and commerce was set up separately, and the middle school was an independent middle school department.

In March 1927, each ministry was renamed school. The middle school department is called junior middle school, and the women's normal school department is changed into women's junior middle school.

In September 1930, rural teachers were added to women's junior middle school.

In December 1933, middle schools and normal schools were separated, but women's middle schools were closed and merged into middle schools.

In September 1936, the Ministry of education of Nanjing national government banned private normal schools. Jimei normal school stopped recruiting students, and the old students were included in the middle school, which was called normal school.

In 1937, the Japanese War of aggression against China broke out, and Jimei schools moved to Anxi County.

In 1938, the normal middle school was merged with the aquatic, navigation, commercial and rural schools, known as "private Jimei United middle school".

In January 1939, all vocational schools moved to Datian County, and the word "union" was cancelled, which was called "private Jimei Middle School".

In the autumn of 1940, the merged normal classes were all over, and Jimei Middle School was divided into junior high school and senior high school.

In the autumn of 1941, the Department of senior high school was changed into a school, and it was relocated to dengketou, Shishan, Nan'an, known as Jimei senior high school. Junior high school department in Anxi independent school, called Jimei junior high school.

In the autumn of 1945, Jimei high school moved back to Anxi County and remained independent. Anxi Changkang branch was added to junior high school.

In February 1946, a junior high school branch was set up in Ma lane, Tong'an.

In January 1946, both senior and junior high schools moved back to the original site of Jimei, which was called "private Jimei Middle School".

In the autumn of 1948, high school and junior high school were separated into schools.

From August to October 1949, affected by the second civil war between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, high school and junior high school evacuated the boarding students and teachers to Shixun and Lianhua in Tongan during the summer vacation.

After the liberation of Jimei, due to the "double 11" massacre, junior high school moved to Hengshan and senior high school moved to the original site of Tianmashan agriculture and forestry school.

In September 1950, high school and junior high school moved back to Jimei school village and merged into Jimei Middle School.

From 1950 to 1955, part of the funds of the school were allocated by the state, and the name of the school remained private.

In 1956, all the funds of the school were allocated by the state and changed into public middle schools.

In 1962, the school changed its name to "Jimei Middle School in Xiamen, Fujian Province" and was designated as a key middle school in Fujian Province.

In 1966, the "Cultural Revolution" began, the school stopped recruiting students.

In September 1975, Jimei Middle School set up a branch school in Xinglin Industrial Zone.

In January 1978, the branch became "Xiamen No.10 middle school".

In 1979, it was renamed "Xiamen Jimei Middle School".

In April 1984, the school was listed as "the first batch of key middle schools run well in Fujian Province", and its name was "Jimei Middle School in Xiamen, Fujian Province".

In August 1996, Fujian Provincial Education Commission confirmed the school as a secondary standard school in Fujian Province.

In 2001, Fujian Provincial Education Commission confirmed the school as a standard school in Fujian Province.

In 2005, the "senior class in Xinjiang" was set up.

In 2014, a total of 567 students from Jimei Middle School in Xiamen, Fujian Province took part in the college entrance examination, of which 251 were on the first line, with the first line rate of 44.2%; 532 were on the first line, with the first line rate of 93.8%; the highest score of liberal arts was 643, ranking 188th in Fujian Province; the highest score of science was 667, ranking 140th in Fujian Province; 27 students with more than 600 scores.
