Jili Temple

Taizhou Jili temple is located in Jungang, Chumen, also known as "Jili hall", and its scenic spot is called "niujiaokeng".

brief introduction

The original temple was built in 1088, the first year of Xiangfu in Song Dynasty. It is located in the confrontation of Chonggang. The scenic spot is a quiet and deep place with beautiful mountains, dense forests, winding roads, gurgling water, rolling hills and jagged rocks. There is "stone boat rock" on the top of the mountain in front of the temple, which seems to be moored from afar; beside the original temple, there is a stream, tens of feet long, just like a dragon, which is called "Longyou Street"; under the temple, there is a "Longtan", which is also called "Tuwu Lake", where the waterfall is high, the ripples are direct, the spring is deep and the water is clear. Other landscapes include panqubi, shuangfenggang, Aotou, bat cave, laoseng rock, xianrenji, Tianzhu peak, Liuyun cave, wansongjing, Ma Xianggang, Lianquan pool, etc.

When the reservoir was built in 1958, Jili temple was demolished and most of the scenic spots sank into the reservoir area. Some landscapes still exist today.

In 1984, Yongfu hall in niujiaokeng was renamed as "Ji Li Temple". The new site is surrounded by towering trees, bamboo trees and wind, birds singing and flowers fragrant, and the environment is quiet. It is a wonderful place for holiday hiking.

A long time ago, there were 19 consecutive years of drought in the Chumen peninsula. People ate bran and ate vegetables to spend their time. In order to relieve the sufferings of the people, Donghai dragon girl went to the world to rain and bless.

The princess opened the Dragon Palace and the palace at the source of the beautiful xiaozhugang stream. The long hillside between the Dragon Palace and the palace is worn out by the dragon. The bottom of the pit is smooth and shiny. Later generations called these three places "lilongtan", "wailongtan" and "Youjie".

Soon after, the Dragon King of the East China Sea knew, and ordered the princess to return to the East China Sea as soon as possible. It is difficult for the Dragon girl to disobey her father's orders. She takes the maid and leaves the beautiful dragon palace. On the way, she found a tiger and a cow fighting at the foot of the mountain, a large area of crops were destroyed. The princess felt pity for the farm crops. She rushed to the place where the tiger and the ox were fighting and roared into the sea from Mei'ao. The dead tiger lies in the East, which is called Hutou mountain, and later built Hutou temple; the dead cow lies in the west, which is called buffalo mountain. Now the "head and neck" of the buffalo is the separation of the body and head of the buffalo.

In memory of the Dragon Girl, people built a temple beside Longtan to commemorate her. It was named "sacrificial Temple" and later changed to "Jili Temple".
