Shiziqiao is located near Hunan Road, Gulou District, Nanjing. Shiziqiao food street is a famous food street in Nanjing, which can be called modern, fashionable and delicious. The block is located in the middle of Hunan Road, with a total length of 330 meters and a width of 12-16 meters.

In the history of Nanjing, the capital of the Six Dynasties was established here in the eastern Wu, Eastern Jin, song, Qi, Liang and Chen (Southern and Northern Dynasties). Among the eight emperors in the Liu Song period, the sixth one named Liu Yu (historically known as the emperor of the song and Ming Dynasties) was a 34 year old monarch who lost his mother when he was young and lived through war. In the face of frequent wars, Royal strife, the displacement of the people and the loss of their lives, he lamented the impermanence of fate and the short life. In addition, at that time, the level of science and technology was too low to explain the complex natural and social phenomena, which led to superstition on ghosts and gods, and Buddhism was very popular. Later, the Tang Dynasty poet Du Mu wrote in "Jiangnanchun": "the green Ying hoof in a thousand miles reflects the red, and the wine flag in Shuicun mountain is very popular. In the 480 temples of the Southern Dynasties, there are many buildings in the misty rain. " The prosperity of temples can be seen.

It was against this background that emperor song and Ming built "Xianggong Temple" on a flat and open area of "northwest of the mountains" in Nanjing. The temple was destroyed by the war, but the bridge in front of the temple still exists. Because there is a lion at the end of the bridge, the people around it are commonly known as "lion bridge", which has a history of nearly 1600 years.

In order to inherit the history, develop the culture and restore the original appearance of the ancient lion bridge, a new and unique shape bridge is built with bluestone at the junction of Hubei Road and lion bridge, which echoes with the hundred lions memorial archway at the intersection of Hunan Road of lion bridge.

Historical records

It is recorded in JINGDING Jiankang annals of Song Dynasty about 800 years ago that "shiziqiao is in the north of Xianggong temple in the north of the city".

According to the old preface of Xianggong temple in Jinling fanchazhi published in the seventh year of Qiqi tomorrow, "after the Tang Dynasty, the temple was moved to the north of Qinghua city", "three characters of Xianggong temple were found on the broken stone excavated from the rear barracks, so as to know where the old temple is located" and "the old residence of emperor song and Ming is extremely magnificent".

According to the two county annals of Shangjiang written by Tongzhi of the Qing Dynasty, "the 25th one in the right northwest" includes shiziqiao, baiziting, fuhougang, zizhulin, etc. it can be seen that the place name of shiziqiao has existed in ancient times.

Tourism characteristics

There are many kinds of restaurants on the street, including KFC, Lion House, and various snack bars. Lion House is a famous restaurant in the south of the Yangtze River. The service is considerate and the decoration is exquisite. There are lion heads in the lion house. There are two kinds of lion's head: Braised in brown sauce and boiled in white sauce.

Yin's chicken soup dumplings (shiziqiao store) are the most classic ones. They are thin in skin, thick in stuffing, rich in soup and fresh in sweetness. Since 2000, Gulou District has carried out key reconstruction of shiziqiao. The whole street is paved with granite, new colorful landscape fountains, flowerpots, landscape street lamps and leisure chairs are built, and two simulated bronze sculptures, steamed cake and sugar kneader, reflecting the local conditions and customs of old Nanjing, are set up. All the residential buildings along the street are Europeanized and bright. A magnificent "99" lion archway is built at the north and south ends, highlighting the charm of the block It has become the landmark landscape architecture of lion bridge. At present, shiziqiao pedestrian food street integrates lighting, animation, beautification and purification into one. Night falls, neon flashes, and visitors are weaving. It is a prosperous scene. The street has gathered a north-south flavor, exotic food restaurants and other characteristics of nearly 100 shops. From 2001 to 2007, the whole street paid more than 10 million yuan of taxes for seven consecutive years. Shiziqiao pedestrian food street has become the most popular famous food street in Nanjing and a paradise for people's food and leisure.
