Fushanyan site is located in Tonghe village, Sihe Township, Sihong County, Jiangsu Province. The existing part is on the riverbed of Huaihe River.
According to sihonghezhi written by Guangxu of Qing Dynasty, in the 11th year of Liang Tianjian (514), Emperor Liang Wu built a 4.5km long Fushan weir on the Huaihe River to resist the invasion of the Northern Wei Dynasty. According to Liangshu written by Guan Shouyang, the Fushan weir project was huge, involving 200000 people and lasted for two years. The weir is 9 li long, 140 Zhang wide at the bottom, 45 Zhang wide at the top, 20 Zhang high and 19 Zhang 5 feet deep. The site is about 300 meters long, rammed with loess, 15-50 meters wide and about 4 meters high. Copper arrows and iron swords are unearthed. The profile of the weir is rammed earth layer, and the remaining part has been well protected. Fushanyan site is of great significance to the study of ancient water conservancy projects, wars and military facilities.
