Qian Yong, the governor of Shaozhou in the Hongzhi period of Ming Dynasty, built it in memory of Yu Jing, a famous official in the Northern Song Dynasty. Yu Jing has the reputation of "more colorful and moving towards the end", so it is called Fengcai building. Chen Baisha, a scholar of the Ming Dynasty, wrote "fengcailou" in soft and vigorous ink, which was carved into a stone plaque and hung high on the gatehouse. The style building is about 22 meters high, with double eaves and green tiles. The top is triple cornice with a small dome in the middle. The whole building is majestic, unique and magnificent. It is the landmark building of Shaoguan City.
