Introduction to Fuyou Street
On October 10, 1913, Yuan Shikai became president. The presidential palace is located in Zhongnanhai. The ash factory Road on the west side of the presidential palace was renamed Fuyou street.
Lu Qian of the Ming Dynasty wrote in his book "a random record of illness and ease": "there are demons in the capital. Wang Zhi, an official in the capital, was sent out to lead the limestone. After that, the ash factory was taken as the West factory." Wang Zhi in the quotation is a famous Eunuch in the Ming Dynasty. He is as famous as Wei Zhongxian, the eunuch in charge of the East chamber. Both the East chamber and the west chamber were secret agencies at that time, and they had the privilege of secretly arresting and killing people. The "grey factory" in the quotation is now the right street of the mansion.
The opening of Fuyou street is only 80 years old. Once upon a time, the southern half of Fuyou street was the Imperial City, and the northern half was part of Zhongnanhai, which could not be announced. Now it has become one of the main lines connecting the north and south of Beijing. On the sidewalks on both sides of the road, there are luxuriant Sophora japonica trees, which is a beautiful and quiet street. To the east of Fuyoujie road is the west wall of Zhongnanhai, and the South half of the north wall is the red wall, which is a part of the west wall of the imperial city of Ming and Qing Dynasties. The red wall is eight feet high and covered with golden glazed tiles. The wall north of the east entrance of Lingjing Hutong was rebuilt after the Republic of China.
