Beside Jintang Lake in zhengxingchang Town, Bishan District, Chongqing City, stands a hundred year old Gothic ancient building, which is the largest Catholic ancient church in Southwest China, Lude hall. Brother hall is a French Gothic architecture. It is simple and elegant. It is composed of Jingtang, bishop, Zhong Lou, monastery, teaching building, corridor, front and back garden. Jimei's learning, acoustics, optics, architecture and so on are all the essence. It is the largest Catholic Church in eastern Sichuan. It is rare in the whole country, and is an important ornamental point in Chongqing Bishan Jintang Lake scenic spot.

LUDDEN originated from French Notre Dame de Lourdes. The builder was Fran ˊ OIS Fleury (1869-1919), a missionary of the foreign missionary Church in Paris.

There are many mysteries hidden

The broad main church of Luther hall is about 600 square meters. It is built with stone columns and walls. There is a bright blue arc dome in the middle and two smaller arc domes on both sides, supported by two rows of 10 large stone columns. The main church is a place where priests and Catholics pray and chant scriptures together. The facilities in the church are very exquisite. There are three sacrificial platforms above, three statues of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, and 14 portraits of the crucifixion on both sides of the walls.

The arch dome of the main church has the effect of focusing sound. No matter where you speak in the church, you can hear it clearly in other places. The tables, chairs and people in the church have the shadow of light, but the 10 stone pillars have no shadow at all. The bell of the bell tower can be heard for more than 10 miles. It is said that French missionaries once secretly drilled 48 exploration wells in the church. Although they were covered up later, two wells were still visible. After liberation, according to this clue, the Geological Department of our country found abundant natural gas resources in Zhengxing and the surrounding Danfeng area, making Bishan one of the earliest places to use natural gas in our city.

Changes in the past century

For more than 100 years, Luther hall has experienced many vicissitudes of history.

In 1948, the French priest sold the church property and ran away with gold; in 1953, Bishan County government changed Lude church into granary; in 1958, Zhengxing middle school used this church for teaching; in 1984, due to the influence of Lude church's Catholic activities, Zhengxing middle school was allowed to open with the approval of the municipal government, and Lude church was returned to Bishan Catholic Patriotic Association; in 1989, because of the quaint architecture of Lude church It has been identified as a cultural relic protection unit at the county level in Bishan County.

Lude church is managed by the municipal Patriotic Catholic Association and used by Bishan Patriotic Catholic Association. There are more than 4000 church members. People from more than 10 countries and regions such as the United States and France have come to Lude church to visit or carry out religious activities.

Due to the lack of maintenance funds, the building of Lude hall was weathered and some buildings collapsed. Lude hall has been listed as a cultural relic protection unit at the municipal level, and the maintenance work has been started.

Tips

In addition to religious activities (both Easter and Christmas), many young people choose to hold weddings here. When the wedding will ask the choir to sing a poem, the priest blessing, do not have a romantic feeling. The rent for the wedding is 1200 yuan, and other expenses for the choir and priest are calculated separately.
