Xixi thatched cottage is located at 4-5 Xiangjing West Street, Jiading District, Shanghai.

Xixi thatched cottage is located at no.4-5 Xiangjing West Street. It was built by Huang Zhong. It is the old house of Huang family of Jiading. The main hall is called qishuntang.

In the late Ming Dynasty, Huang's family moved from Gaoqiao Town in Pudong (which was also Jiading at that time) to the West Bank of Xiangjing and settled down. From the fifth century on, the family began to get rich because of the business of north-south goods and sand ships. After several generations of management, Huang's family is rich. The Huang family is good at giving alms, helping the poor and building bridges and roads every year. As Huang's Xixi thatched cottage is close to Huguo temple, there are many Buddhists among them, especially women. They often go to Huguo temple to burn incense and worship Buddha, becoming frequent visitors of Huguo temple.

Huang's family passed down to the eighth generation and began to transform into a cultural family. Huang Rucheng, the eighth grandson of the family, was the supervisor of the state's son. Huang zongqi, the ninth grandson, and his two sons, Qi and shizuo, were all Juren. They had three examples, one for Jiading. Huang shizuo, the tenth grandson, founded "Lianxi primary school". Later, with the help of the squire Qin Mian, he invested in the construction of school buildings in the Huguo temple and moved Lianxi primary school to the new site of Huguo temple. Since then, Lianxi primary school has been a famous school in Jiading for 68 years. During the reign of Emperor Guangxu, the tenth sun Huang Shirong founded the first newspaper of Jiading, Jiading Xunbao, and the twelfth sun Huang Xinbai served as the Secretary General of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council.
