Old house of Xu Pu'an

Xu Pu'an's old house is the former residence of Xu Pu'an, the first comprador of Macquarie Bank in Tianjin. It was built in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. It is located at 202 dongmenli street, northeast corner of the intersection of old Chengxiang east gate and Chengxiang East Road, Nankai District. It is a large-scale and well preserved modern residential building in the old city of Tianjin.

Xu Pu'an's old house is located in the northeast corner of the intersection of dongmenli and Chengxiang East Road. Built in the early Republic of China, it was originally the first comprador Xu Pu'an residence of the Bank of England. The central axis of the building is composed of three courtyards, with arrow paths on both sides. The gatehouse and Xitou brick carvings are exquisite. It is a well preserved three in four courtyard in Tianjin's old urban area.

The old house of Xu Pu'an is a large-scale and well preserved modern residential building in the old city of Tianjin.

It adopts the traditional brick and wood structure system of siheyuan in China. The central axis is composed of three courtyards. The green tiles are hard on the top of the mountain, and the walls are polished with bricks and fine workmanship. The arrow road on both sides of the East and the west is the characteristic of Tianjin folk houses. The pattern of xunmen in qianzhai and Siheyuan are common in Beijing residents. The roof tube, plate and tile have the southern style. Its architectural form and preservation integrity are rare in the urban area. A large number of brick carvings are preserved in the gatehouse, long head and wall eaves. The carvings are exquisite and rich in decorative patterns. They have many auspicious meanings, such as "squirrel grape", "White Ape Offering longevity", "five blessings holding longevity", "four seasons peace" and "deer and crane in the same spring".
