Gangbei Forest Park

Gangbei Forest Park is located in the triangle area at the junction of xiawuqi, Daliang and Nancai villages in Wuqing district. In order to effectively control sandstorm, Wuqing County Party committee and county government organized local people to build windbreak and sand fixation forest in 1950s. In the 1970s, afforestation, sand dune leveling, canal construction and water diversion were started. More than 4000 mu of Populus tomentosa, Populus psammophila and fast-growing high-yield forest were built, and more than 2600 mu of orchard was built, which made the desertification control work change from single protection type to economic benefit type.

Gangbei Forest Park is located in the triangle of xiawuqi, Daliang and Nancai villages in Wuqing District, with a total area of 12000 Mu and nearly 8000 mu of afforestation. It is the largest artificial forest park in North China. Before liberation, the North Canal and qinglongwan river often burst because of the higher northwest and lower southeast of Gangbei forest park. The impact and wind deposition made the soil desertification very serious in this area.

In the 1970s, afforestation, sand dune leveling, canal construction and water diversion were started. In the park, there are more than 200000 species of Populus tomentosa, Populus shalanensis, Populus xiaomeiensis, evergreen ornamental trees, fruit trees, etc., realizing the combination of desertification control and beautification, and reasonable distribution of trees, shrubs, fruits and flowers, which not only improves the quality of trees, but also improves the ornamental level. In recent years, in order to effectively protect, develop and utilize this ecological resource, Wuqing District has actively asked Beijing Forestry University to make a detailed plan to build Gangbei Forest Park into an ecotourism area with forest environment as the main body and integrating vacation and leisure.

Main attractions

The park has 14 first-class and unique activity places in China, such as holiday village, horse racing field, Forest Amusement Park, famous and special orchard, tourism and hunting area, and viewing area. With the completion of many development and transformation projects of the forest park in the near future, it will become a tourist resort for the general public to relax and add a beautiful scenery to Jinmen.

The natural area of Gangbei Forest Park is divided into active area, quiet area and viewing area, and 14 scenic areas are built respectively, including 150 mu holiday village, 300 mu Forest Amusement Park, happy horse farm, 2000 mu famous and special orchard, 100 mu wildlife breeding area, 100 mu tourism and hunting area, 300 Mu red leaf viewing area and 100 mu ginkgo garden.

The construction of the project will adopt the strategy of building nests to attract Phoenix, and Wuqing District will provide infrastructure and other services to attract domestic and foreign businesses. After the completion of the forest park, the northern area of Wuqing port has been transformed, which plays a very important role in preventing wind and fixing sand and protecting farmland.
