Baifu building was built in 1926 and designed by L. mendlssohn, a French engineer of Bishang Yipin company. It was originally a comprehensive building integrating commerce, office and apartment. After the completion of the building, Baifu building, as a comprehensive office building in the French concession of Tianjin at that time, was rented out to British firms such as bnem and American firms such as Hengmao automobile. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Baifu building was the office building of Tianjin No.2 electronic instrument factory. In the Tangshan earthquake, the flagpole of the roof tower on the side of Baifu building near Haihe River was destroyed. In 2007, the Tianjin Municipal People's Government renovated the building, conducted a comprehensive survey of Baifu building, consulted the historical drawings and photos, and restored the design scheme of the roof tower of Baifu building according to the protection plan of historical buildings. After renovation, Baifu building is now the Yiyan restaurant in Jinwan square

name

"Baifu" of Baifu building is transliterated from the French name "belfran", which comes from the combination of the first three letters of Belgian English word "Belgique" and the first four letters of French English word "France". At that time, credit foncier D "export-orient, the owner of Baifu building, belonged to the Belgian consortium system directly controlled by France, and its general management office was located in Paris. Therefore, the building has many ties with Belgium and France.

Architecture

Baifu building covers an area of 3020 square meters, with a building area of 3913 square meters and a total building height of 23.93 meters. It is a five story reinforced concrete full frame structure with a basement in some parts. The plan and facade of the building are designed in the shape of a ship, the East facade is a curved transition, and the facade along the street is a symmetrical design. The top of the building is a sloping roof in the form of in-depth retraction. The dormer windows on the roof are integrated with five arc walls to form a raised trapezoidal mountain flower. A number of metal poles with different lengths are set at different positions of the roof 1 to 10 meters above the ridge. The top of the pole is provided with a star light made of flashing metal. The metal poles play the role of lightning rod and decoration. The upper part of the building is equipped with a white coated broken cornice and skylights. The cornice is decorated with exquisite engraving and supported by slightly convex corbel. The facade of the first floor of the building is gray brushstone and decorated with large grid lines. The facade above the first floor is decorated with light yellow veneer. The exterior of Baifu building is also arranged with rectangular windows, large arc windows, small oval portholes and other window sets. Under the windows are decorated with black open square railings and white window ridges. The interior plan of Baifu building is a combination of rectangular and small trapezoidal layout. The first floor of the building is equipped with an entrance hall and a large glass window commercial store. The entrance hall is facing the three running main stairs, and the middle Pavilion of the building is equipped with an elevator. The second and third floors of the building are large exhibition halls. The fourth and fifth floors of the building are mixed office and residential apartments with offices, reception rooms, bedrooms and restaurants.
