The former site of Beijiang museum is a site from 1922 to 1929, located in Hexi District of Tianjin.

Beijiang museum is the predecessor of Tianjin nature museum. The collection of Beijiang museum includes more than 200000 pieces of animals, plants, paleontology, paleoanthropology, rock and mineral specimens, as well as historical and folk cultural relics, which laid the foundation for the collection of Tianjin Museum of natural history and was well-known in the world in the 1930s. His published works and publications have been listed in the world natural science literature treasure house and enjoyed a high reputation in the world.

In October 2019, the former site of Beijiang museum was listed in the list of the eighth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.

Site features

Beijiang museum is one of the few comprehensive museums in China, which integrates animal, plant, geology, paleontology, paleoanthropology and other disciplines. The collection focuses on the representative and typical natural science specimens in Northwest China, North China, Northeast China and all over the world. The collection of specimens has reached 400000 pieces, ranking first among similar museums in China and occupying an important position in the world.

On August 2, 1991, the building was listed as "Tianjin cultural relic protection unit" by Tianjin Municipal People's government, and on August 31, 2005, it was listed as a key protection level historic building by Tianjin Municipal People's government.
