The first high-rise building with reinforced concrete structure in Guangzhou, formerly known as Daxin company outside the city, is located at No. 49 Yanjiang West Road. The 12 storey south building is one of the landmark buildings along the Pearl River. To the east of it is Aiqun building, to the West are the old Guangzhou Customs, post office and Cultural Park, and to the front is Shamian. Nearby, there are some famous Guangzhou sections, such as Xihao Second Road, Renmin South, ShiSanHang, etc., which have long been the most famous commercial center of Guangzhou.

Built in the early years of the Republic of China, the earliest "skyscraper" in China was in Guangzhou. It is the new Daxin company (Nanfang building) outside the city along Jiangxi road. Now it is called Nanfang building international electronic digital city. The tallest building in China, built in 1922, was six years earlier than the tallest building in Tianjin and seven years earlier than the tallest building in Shanghai.

In particular, the roof of the building is also equipped with hanging gardens, amusement parks, elevators to transport guests, and spiral slopes for cars to get on and off.

Today's Zhongshan fifth road (now "new Daxin") was rebuilt on the original site of Daxin company, which is called "Daxin in the city".

The Daxin company has two buildings. The first one was built on today's Zhongshan fifth road (now "Xindaxin") and was later rebuilt on the original site of Daxin company. It is called "Daxin in the city". It is the headquarters of Guangzhou Branch of Daxin Department Store Co., Ltd. Then another "skyscraper" (South Building) was built. It was called "new Daxin company outside the city". In order to distinguish it, it was called "new Daxin".

Outside the City Daxin company is a branch opened by Mr. Cai Chang in Guangzhou Xidi in 1922. Xidi sub branch is a 12 storey reinforced concrete building, with three floors on top of which are a cool terrace and a rooftop. It is the highest building in Guangzhou in the early 1920s. Its buildings and facilities attract more people's attention. The first to seventh floors are department stores, and the eighth and ninth floors and rooftops are built into playgrounds. It not only has its own water supply and power generation equipment, but also has four elevators to pick up guests. There is a circular car path from the first floor to the fourth floor. The car can wind up along the four sides of the building and directly lead to the fourth floor. Its unique design is rare in China, not to mention at that time, even now. At that time, it was the most magnificent department store in South China, attracting many people to visit, visit and shop. After opening, its turnover was ahead of that of other companies in the same industry.

The Anti Japanese war broke out in July 1937. On October 20, 1938, Guangzhou was occupied by the Japanese army, and the Daxin company outside the city was bombed by Japanese planes, which led to a fire. It burned for four days and three nights, and all the goods were on fire. Before the fall of Guangzhou, the goods of "Daxin in the city" were all moved to Xidi "Daxin outside the city" for storage, but they were burned out at the same time, so there were very few goods left. As a result, the vitality of Guangzhou Daxin company was greatly damaged and it was in a state of collapse.
