The owner of Yu Yuan is Wu Jingying, a famous shipbuilding expert and then the shipbuilding director of the national revolutionary Navy. He designed the building himself. It was built around 1931.

During the new year's Day holiday in 2016, urban management departments and neighborhoods found that Yuyuan, one of the five famous western style houses in Pudong mountain, Xinhe, suffered from the disaster of "topping out" - the roof of the house was partly demolished, although the construction was immediately stopped by the urban management and law enforcement team of Dongshan street, most of the tiles imported from Britain at the beginning of last century were smashed, which is a pity. Dongshan Street means that although the project has been put on record in the municipal cultural relics department, the construction content is inconsistent with the declared content. The owner argued that the roof collapsed due to the construction error of the construction party.

Investigation and treatment

As for the destruction of the corner garden, Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of culture, broadcasting and information said that in November 2015, when the Bureau approved the maintenance plan submitted by the owner, it clearly required that the unit with cultural and environmental protection construction qualification should undertake the repair project.
