Jing'an Sculpture Park

Jing'an sculpture park is the only special Sculpture Park in Shanghai. Originally, it was just a small piece of green space, but later it was transformed into a park. Although the park area is small, but the environment is pleasant, fresh air, you can enjoy a lot of creative sculptures from home and abroad. Jing'an Sculpture Park

Jing'an sculpture park is the only special Sculpture Park in the center of Shanghai. It is an open city park. Jing'an sculpture park is located in the east of Jing'an District, the central city of Shanghai. It has a subtropical monsoon climate. The base extends to Chengdu North Road in the East, Beijing West Road in the south, Shimen Second Road in the West and Shanhaiguan road in the north, covering a total area of 65000 square meters. Relying on the traffic trunk road in the East, it forms a close connection with various regions of Shanghai, Beijing West Road in the South and Shimen Second Road in the West, It is adjacent to Suzhou River in the north.

Jing'an sculpture park is located in the east of Jing'an District, the central city of Shanghai. The base extends to Chengdu North Road in the East, Beijing West Road in the south, Shimen Second Road in the West and Shanhaiguan road in the north, covering an area of about 65000 square meters. Relying on the traffic trunk road in the East, it forms a close connection with various areas of Shanghai, Beijing West Road in the south, Shimen Second Road in the West and Suzhou River in the north.

There is also the Shanghai Nature Museum (New Museum) built in the park. It is not free for the time being. It is divided into student tickets, elderly tickets and adult tickets.

Development and construction

The first phase of the park, with a construction area of 30000 square meters, started construction in October 2007. The first phase of the park is composed of two landscape axes and a sunken square to unify and link each partition. Ginkgo biloba is the main tree in the main road of the park. The neat and unified plant landscape makes the whole park more magnificent. The intersection of the two road axes forms a sunken lawn area, and the surrounding area is coordinated with the surrounding scenic spots by planting saplings. The rows of Acer palmatum with colorful flowers make people appreciate its regular rhythm as well as its color and leaf beauty. The neat and simple axis and square landscape connect the three characteristic landscape areas of the first phase of the park: Spring Scenic Area, ornamental flower border area and autumn scenic area.

The second phase, with an area of 36000 square meters, is built on the underground building of the 500kV underground power transmission and distribution station of the State Grid, a supporting project for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. The second phase of construction is ingeniously conceived, which turns underground and ground structures such as power station into invisible, diverts visitors' sight with zigzag corridor that seems to enclose space, and quietly integrates the structures into pleasant atmosphere without losing exquisite landscape. Through skillful gardening engineering technology and artistic means, we have created and built an ecological, elegant, environmental protection natural environment and recreational environment by transforming the terrain (building mountains, folding stones, managing water), planting trees and flowers, building buildings and arranging garden roads, etc.

Design concept

Jing'an sculpture park is to create a precious urban open space for the center of Shanghai with a clear spatial structure and distinctive artistic personality, reflecting the purpose of "being loved, used and integrated by the people". The park has become a carrier to display art and teach art, to promote the communication between people and art, to add the cultural atmosphere of the city, and to provide a good place for leisure, entertainment and learning for the citizens.

General layout

Jing'an sculpture park is mainly composed of six landscape areas: 1) entrance square 2) mobile exhibition corridor 3) central square landscape area 4) Magnolia petal landscape area 5) plum garden landscape area 6) small landscape area. The whole park takes the flow display corridor as the main line, connecting all the theme landscape space, relatively concentrated and organized to place different creative sculptures in each landscape area of the park, forming a series of distinctive spaces, thus enriching the landscape composition of the park and improving the tourists' interest in exploration.

Meiyuan scenic spot

Using the traditional garden concept and modern garden expression techniques, the inner garden of nearly ten thousand square meters is elaborately built and naturally integrated into the whole sculpture park. In the plum garden, the designer engraved the 1700 year old cultural treasure "plum blossom happiness score" on the gallery wall to reproduce the ancient plum culture and art treasure.

Promenade South Plaza

In Jing'an Sculpture Park, near gate 1, there is a 100 meter long Cherry Blossom corridor. The flowering period is in March.

Tree array flower belt area

Located in the middle of the park, it is the introduction of various flowers, such as Mediterranean pod fans, Yinji Xiaola, etc. twelve flower belts are arranged in the tree array area, and six to seven color flower belts will be arranged in each season.

The overall landscape image of Jing'an sculpture park is simple and exquisite, which fully embodies the organic combination of modern gardening techniques and traditional gardening concepts. The scale of each space in the park is pleasant. The spatial layout is combined with the sculpture planning and layout, and the sites are connected together through the landscape trail to form a unified and orderly display space.

The zigzag corridors and Palisades in the park, which seem to be enclosed space, are a good way to cut off the sight and cover the hidden structures. They are a combination of the virtual and the real. They not only play the role of enclosed space, but also play the role of extending and blocking the sight. The modern plum garden, an inner garden of nearly 10000 square meters, is naturally integrated into the whole sculpture park. A cultural treasure with a history of more than 1700 years, the "plum blossom happiness spectrum" is engraved on the gallery wall and presented to the world for appreciation. In the garden, Luohan pine, black pine and cangmu Qiuzhi are set against the plum blossom, clear and shallow water is set against the plum blossom, and a thousand odd and wrinkled stones are set against the plum blossom, and sculptures will be set against it. The park fully embodies the combination of culture and greening, and the combination of nature and art. Chen Junyu, academician of the Chinese Academy of engineering, and Meng Zhaozhen, two old gentlemen and art master Xie Chunyan, repeatedly praised it and offered suggestions. They praised Jing'an Sculpture Park as a wonderful flower in the garden, leaving another masterpiece for Shanghai.

In terms of plant configuration, the park highlights spring scenery and autumn color, that is, a city garden with flowers in spring, leaves in autumn, green shade in summer, sun falling in winter and changing seasons. The main plants in the garden are Cinnamomum camphora, Celastrus, Zelkova, Larix gmelinii, Acer palmatum, slash pine, Phyllostachys edulis, Prunus mume, Osmanthus fragrans, crimson peach, cherry blossom, Malus chinensis, camellia, Rhododendron, aibaxian, Photinia serrulata, Hemerocallis fulva, four seasons grass and other trees and ground cover plants, which realize the landscape changes in time and space.

Since the opening of Jing'an Sculpture Park, there have been red leaves like fire, tall ginkgo leaves dyed goose yellow, green lawn, red enchanting, yellow transparent, green calm Sometimes the spring is jumping, sometimes the petals are flying, sometimes the sculpture is full of city fantasy. The unique scenery attracts visitors from all over the world. The settlement of the "Songpu Special Commission Office of the Communist Party of China" and the new Shanghai Museum of natural history, a municipal heritage protection unit, has added a lot of cultural scenery to the park.

The creative idea of art works

Arne quez Quinze, a concept artist famous for his non-traditional and controversial public installation art, presents a city daydream under the theme of "urban fantasy" in the 2010 World Expo Jing'an International Sculpture Exhibition: on the one hand, it is the subversion of history; on the other hand, it is the reconstruction of civilization; on the other hand, it is the fantasy of unlimited possibilities in the future; on the other hand, it is the desire for more violent storms.

Quez had a special fondness for the time when people used to talk with each other in the square, so he paid special attention to the space of the gallery of Jing'an Sculpture Park, gave full play to his imagination, and completed a new large installation art - "flame" specially created for the sculpture exhibition with a large amount of wood.
