Baiquan Catholic Church
Baiquan Catholic Church, also known as Saint Andoni minor convent, is located in liuzui, Baiquan farm, Dongxihu District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, 1.7 km away from Baiquan office.
Built by Italian missionaries in 1840, Baiquan Catholic Church is the earliest church in Wuhan.
A brief account of the history of Yunxiang religion contains the process of building the church. Its main building is two symmetrical buildings, each 20 meters high, in the shape of a double cross. In the middle, it is connected by an overpass. In the south, there is a semi-circular arched porch with square columns. In the north, a corridor is built with bricks and stones to connect the second floor. Rigorous structure, majestic and spectacular, with Roman architectural style. Maple trees are planted all around. After the establishment of new China, foreign missionaries returned home, and the church was used by PLA military and Political University, schistosomiasis control hospital and Baiquan middle school. In 1985, the property was transferred to the Catholic District of Hankou and restored to the Catholic Church, which was listed as a cultural relic protection unit at the district level.
