Wanshuyuan

Wanshuyuan is located in the northeast of Chengde Mountain Resort plain. There is a stone tablet in the middle of the garden, engraved with "Wanshu garden", which was written by Qianlong. It is the 20th scene of "thirty six scenes of Qianlong". Wanshuyuan is located at the foot of the mountain in the north and Chenghu Lake in the south. The ground is covered with green grass, with elk flocks, pheasant and hare. Pines, cypresses, elms and willows are scattered among them to block out the sun. In the south, there is a stele of "eight rhymes of green carpet" written by Qianlong. During the reign of Emperor Kangxi, Emperor Qianlong and Emperor Jiaqing, they met and entertained many ethnic princes, nobles, political and religious leaders, as well as envoys from Southeast Asia and many European countries.

In 1754, Emperor Qianlong met with durbert's Taiji "San CE Ling" in the summer resort. Durbert tribe is one of the four Mongolian tribes in moxierut. After the death of Gerdan Cering in 1745, the nobles of the Junggar tribe fought against each other for the throne, and the durbert tribe was forced to take part in the scuffle. In 1753, after dawaqi won the Khan's throne, he colluded with Kazakh cavalry to attack duerbert. Durbert people were bullied by dawaqi of Junggar, and they were no longer willing to work for him. So sanceling resolutely led more than 3000 families to leave the long-term nomadic Irtysh River and went through hardships. On November 25, 1753, they returned to the mainland. Qianlong attached great importance to sanceling's first return and ordered him to meet him in Rehe. On May 13, 1754, sanceling and others were ceremoniously received by Emperor Qianlong in wanshuyuan, the summer resort. Emperor Qianlong made celeng prince, celeng wubashi princess, celeng mengke Baile. At the same time, sanceling was summoned in the temple of Danbo Jingcheng. He also gave banquets in wanshuyuan for five consecutive days. In the evening, he held banquets, set off fireworks, watch fire, horse skills and other programs. The equestrian painting by the court painter Lang shining of the Qing Dynasty reproduces the moving scene of the equestrian performance held in Wanshu garden for the return of sanceling.

In the 36th year of Qianlong (1771), the turhute tribe broke through the shackles of tsarist Russia and returned to the motherland. Emperor Qianlong once gave banquets in wanshuyuan, and set up lantern banquets, watching fire plays and so on to entertain and pacify them in accordance with the precedent of "three strategies and Ling".

In 1793, Qianlong received magorny, the British special envoy who came to China for the first time. This was the first contact between China and Britain through diplomatic channels. It was an important diplomatic and political activity in Sino British Relations in the early Qing Dynasty.

On September 14, the 58th year of Qianlong, Emperor Qianlong received the British envoy magorni and his party in the imperial command of wanshuyuan. Magorni knelt down on one leg and kowtowed to Qianlong. He presented letters and gifts from the king of England. Emperor Qianlong also presented Yu Ruyi as a gift of thanks. After the ceremony, a banquet was held in the imperial palace. The whole ceremony was carried out in a solemn atmosphere. The next day, with the permission of Emperor Qianlong, magorni was accompanied by Hezhen to visit the summer resort. On the evening of September 17, he watched a grand fireworks party, acrobatics, folk songs and dances in wanshuyuan.
