Yingxi gate

Phoenix City at the foot of Phoenix Mountain is an ancient cultural city with a long history. In 1481, a city was built in the Ming Dynasty. At that time, it was called Phoenix castle, and there was only one south gate, jiruimen. During the Qing and Qian dynasties, Phoenix City was rebuilt and another east gate, Yingxi gate, was built. It has a history of more than 500 years.

It is the only witness in the construction process of the ancient city of Hsinchu. It stands on the street like its name, telling the passers-by about the past of the ancient city and guarding everyone in Hsinchu.

Dongmen city in Hsinchu, also known as yingximen, was built in 1733, the 11th year of Yongzheng reign in Qing Dynasty. Xu Zhimin, the Tongzhi at that time, planted prickly bamboo in the area of Zhuqian, with a total of 410 feet around. Four gatehouses were set up in the East, West, South and North, and trenches were dug to consolidate the safety of the city.
