Marriage Bridge

Zou marriage bridge is located in Caohai area in the southeast of Lugu Lake. It is the only bridge on Lugu Lake. Under the bridge, due to years of sediment deposition, the water depth becomes shallow, with dense reeds. From a distance, it looks like a sea of grass, so the local people call it "grass sea". Walking marriage bridge is the place where Mosuo men and women date. Mosuo people on the Bank of Lugu Lake follow the custom of "walking marriage" that "men don't marry, women don't marry".

brief introduction

During the day, adult Mosuo men and women express their feelings to their loved ones by dancing and singing. If a man falls in love with a woman, he makes an appointment with her during the day and goes to her "flower house" in the middle of the night. Here, men call female lover "a Xia", while women call male lover "a Zhu". As night falls, they walk on the marriage bridge to the "ah Zhu" who are going to the appointment. There are two walking marriage bridges, one of which is an old bridge with a history of nearly 100 years. Some of the wood has been rotten or damaged, scattered in the sea of grass, so it is abandoned. Next to the old bridge is a new one. It has a beautiful shape. The length of the bridge is more than 300 meters. It is also made of wood. The bridge deck is about 80 cm above the water surface, with wooden railings on both sides.

Travel

To travel to Lugu Lake, marriage bridge is one of the necessary scenic spots. Lijiang's outdoor trip to Yunnan starts from Lige Peninsula, drives along the lakeside Avenue on the Bank of Lugu Lake, passes Nisai village, xiaoluoshui village and Dazui village, and reaches Caohai within half an hour. Here we can learn about the real life of Mosuo people in Lugu Lake.

The annual average temperature of Lugu Lake is about 17 degrees. The temperature can reach 15-25 degrees in the daytime, and about 10 degrees in the morning and evening. You can get better with a thin sweater and a coat. However, it should be noted that the weather on the plateau is changeable, sometimes sunny, sometimes overcast, sometimes cold and sometimes hot. Due to the strong direct sunlight and ultraviolet rays, please provide sunglasses, sunscreen and umbrella.

Tourist status

From April every year, more and more tourists go to the marriage bridge in Lugu Lake. It is estimated that there will be a peak before May Day and in the middle of the festival until June, and whether there will be another peak after the festival, because many tourists have begun to consciously avoid traveling at the peak of the festival and choose the date before and after the festival.

Two day tour around Lugu Lake

D1: Lijiang - shibawan of Shanlu - Ninglang - Lugu Lake viewing platform - Lige (190km, about 5-6 hours)

In the morning, set out in Lijiang, get off to take photos by the 18th bend of mountain road (35km), and arrive at the Jinsha River after about 20 minutes' drive. D2: lig - take a pig boat to Nisai - Goddess mountain of Gem - Mosuo's home visit - Lijiang

After breakfast, take a boat from lige to Nisai lover tree (about 50 minutes), take a cableway to Gemu goddess mountain, have a panoramic view of Lugu Lake, visit Gemu goddess cave, taste the sweet holy spring water 3500 meters high - Mosuo's home visit in xiaoluoshui Village (enjoy the music of Mosuo people, taste the wine made by themselves, and enjoy Mosuo's lunch) - and return to Lijiang by bus

D3: lige daluoshui village Sanjia village Ninglang Lijiang (192km)

After breakfast, start from lige to daluoshui village, about 20 minutes to the dock of daluoshui village, and return to Lijiang to finish the journey!
