Zhang Caiqin's former residence is located at No.35, west section of Kuan alley, Chengdu City. The plaque of "Si Xian Lu" hanging above the lintel is written by the famous calligrapher Li Shurong. It is the biggest and most beautiful gold lettered signboard in Kuan and Zhai alleys today. The stone carving of "Zhang Caiqin's former residence" on the left side of the gate and the Fu of Zhang Caiqin's former residence, which is hidden in the bamboo grove, were all completed under the guidance of Zhang Lixian, Zhang Caiqin's disciple. The first person to visit is Mr. Jin Zhensheng, a 97 year old counselor in the Counselor's office of Sichuan provincial government. After that, countless people visited, interviewed, paid homage to and took photos, which really added a lot of luster to Kuanzhai alley. Zhang Caiqin (1901-1984), a native of Jiangjin County, Sichuan Province, returned to Sichuan after graduating from Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts in 1925. He was a professor of Fine Arts in Chengdu Normal University, Chengdu Normal University, Sichuan University and other colleges and universities. He also founded Sichuan women's fine arts school and served as the dean. He devoted his whole life to the study and teaching of Chinese painting.
