Overview of the nature reserve: the nature reserve was established in 1989 as a provincial nature reserve in Yunnan Province. The area is 12 km. The main protected object is the Precambrian Cambrian section. Location: the nature reserve is located 7km northwest of Jinning County in the middle of Yunnan Province, on the southwest edge of the Yangtze platform. The MEISHUCUN section is located in the south wing of xiangtiaochong anticline, trending east-west, with a dip angle of 140 ~ 244 ° and an dip angle of 15 ~ 17 °. Protected objects: there are many kinds of landforms in the reserve, such as eroded mountains, ice caves and volcanic landforms. The reserve is located in the southern margin of the Sichuan Yunnan Guizhou carbonate platform and the coastal zone of the ancient land in Central Yunnan. Due to the specific paleogeographic environment, the Precambrian and Cambrian strata in the reserve have the following characteristics: 1. The sediments are mainly composed of endogenous carbonate and phosphate; 2. The shoreline structure is developed with common ripple marks, oblique bedding and scouring structures, and the shallow water structure is obvious with syngenetic gravel, sand, oolitic and pseudooolitic 3. Abundant biological fossils, characterized by small shell fossils and trace fossils. The profile includes Tuanshan section, xiaowaitoushan section and Badaowan section. This section is the Jianshi type section of MEISHUCUN stage of Lower Cambrian in China, with rare fossils and typical ore deposits. The vertical evolution of the section strata is consistent with that of the whole eastern Yunnan. The depositional domain has been in the process of gradual deepening of sea water and the transition of paleoclimate from hot and dry to warm and humid. The continuous change of sedimentary facies, the continuous evolution of organisms and the transition of material composition fully indicate the integrated contact relationship between each group and member of the MEISHUCUN section. Especially abundant organisms and continuous evolution make this section a standard section for measuring the Yangtze Platform in eastern Yunnan. Because the sequence of the section is continuous and complete, rich in small shell fossils and trace fossils, it is of great significance to divide, correlate and determine the stratigraphic boundary, which provides a favorable geological age for studying the isotopic geological age of the Precambrian Cambrian boundary.

In 1984, the reserve was regarded as one of the global candidate sections by the International Union of Geosciences, where "gold nails" were buried as permanent cultural relics.

Kunming is suitable for tourism throughout the year, but the best time to travel is from March to October, which is the time with the most beautiful scenery. When Yunnan's ethnic minorities have the most festivals, it is also the season with the most fruits and flowers. At this time, it is more interesting to travel to Kunming, and the harvest will be great. Snow mountains can be seen in early spring and March.

Climate of Nature Reserve

Kunming is a "Spring City", which belongs to the temperate plateau humid monsoon climate. The sunshine time is long, and the four seasons are like spring. The climate is mild throughout the year. There is no extreme heat in summer and no severe cold in winter. It is suitable for tourism in four seasons. The annual average temperature in Kunming is about 15 ℃, the average temperature in the hottest month is between 19 ℃ and 22 ℃, and the average temperature in the coldest month is between 6 ℃ and 8 ℃.
