Jincheng ancient town is located in Jincheng Town, Jinning County, on the southeast Bank of Dianchi Lake. It is surrounded by mountains on three sides and hilly plain by lake on one side. It was not completely removed until 1958. Fortunately, although the city walls have been removed, most of the houses and public buildings in the ancient city in the Ming and Qing Dynasties are still in good condition, which reminds us of the prosperous scene of the ancient city. Recently (May 20, 2003) Kunming Daily reported that the ancient city's long history, unique ancient residential courtyard, street pattern and exquisite architectural carving art have attracted great attention of experts from Zurich Cultural Relics Protection Bureau. They and their group of 20 people have visited the ancient town three times, and they are surprised by the scenes of civilization lost in the ancient capital of Yunnan.
