Hongcheng site
Hongcheng site is about 300 meters south of Hongcheng village, Mayao Town, Huzhou. It covers an area of about 100000 square meters. The pottery collected in the western part of the site is mainly composed of sand and muddy red pottery, including waist edge cauldron, muddy red pottery beans, ox nose shaped ears and binocular conical tripod, etc., which belongs to Majiabang culture type. The eastern collection of pottery mainly includes sand gray pottery and argillaceous gray black pottery, with hollow high beans and pots, and stone tools such as knives, axes, arrows, etc., which belong to Liangzhu culture.
Site structure
Hongcheng site is located in the south of Hongcheng village, Mayao Township, Huzhou, on the North Bank of shuanglintang River, covering an area of about 100000 square meters. It is a cultural relic of the Neolithic age and belongs to the provincial cultural relic protection unit. It was announced on December 12, 1989.
unearthed relic
The unearthed cultural relics in the west mainly consist of muddy red pottery with sand. The utensils are shaped like waist edge cauldron, muddy red pottery beans, ox nose shaped utensils and double ear shaped round tripod. In the East, it is mainly composed of sand mixed grey black pottery and argillaceous grey black pottery. Stone tools include knives, axes, arrows and so on. The site is well preserved and rich in relics.
historical value
Hongcheng site is the Tucheng site of slave owner Hong from 2100 BC to 1600 BC, which is of great significance to the study of Neolithic culture and the development history of Taihu Lake Basin. Now it is a cultural relic protection unit at the provincial level.
