Haitian Hall

Built in 1921, haitiantang is one of the top ten villas on Gulangyu Island. It is the only villa complex symmetrically arranged along the central axis on Gulangyu Island. It was built on the original site of the concession foreigner Club purchased by Huang Xiuzhen, an overseas Chinese from the Philippines. The five villas adopt the traditional symmetrical pattern of Chinese architecture, with the middle building as the main part and spread out to both sides. A square is built in the center to form a group of large-scale buildings. The most distinctive middle building is an antique palace building with a large roof. It uses double eaves to rest on the top of the mountain. Its four corners are high and cocked up. The lintels of doors, windows, corridors and halls are hung with cement openwork and flying covers. The eaves and corners are decorated with twig flowers or water absorbing dragon, beam carrying sparrow and plastic dragon and Phoenix ornaments. In particular, two caissons are decorated under the roof, and Chinese flower and bird paintings are painted on the walls of the caissons, which are quite like pavilions. All eaves and corners are decorated with twig flowers or water sucking mosquito dragons. The beams and sparrows are decorated with dragons and phoenixes, which makes the villa very National. Its porch pillars are square and made of red bricks, with natural and harmonious colors; while the main hall is composed of four flower baskets with vertical columns corresponding to the flower pots on the railings, especially the outer edge of the corridor decorated with brackets, which is particularly stable.
