It is the former residence of Liu Hongsheng, a famous "coal king" and "match king" at home and abroad. The house faces south, covering an area of 555 square meters, with 7 main rooms and 3 left and right wing rooms. Behind the main house, there is a patio and a miscellaneous house. In the courtyard, there is a Saposhnikovia tree.
Liu Hongsheng's former residence covers an area of 555 square meters, with a construction area of 364.63 square meters. It has a history of more than 90 years and is now a cultural relic protection unit in Zhoushan City. Due to the disrepair, lack of management and repeated typhoon erosion, the walls of the former residence cracked and were on the verge of destruction, so it was in urgent need of repair. With the consent of the Zhoushan Municipal government and the support of the Provincial Overseas Chinese office, Zhoushan overseas Chinese office decided to renovate the former residence after discussion with Liu's descendants, and established Zhoushan Liu Hongsheng Memorial Hall and Zhoushan overseas Chinese activity center in the renovated former residence.
