Du Chongyuan's former residence is located at No. 8, Lane 198, Ruijin Second Road (Anhe New Village). In June 1931, he came to Shanghai to visit Zou Taofen and became a close friend. Therefore, he often wrote articles for Life Weekly, writing against Japanese invasion. The next spring, he and Zou Taofen, Li Gongpu, Hu Yuzhi, etc. launched the preparation of "life daily", which was not allowed by the national government. In December 1933, Life Weekly was banned. That is to say, he and Hu Yuzhi, Xu Boxin, etc. founded New Life Weekly. He was officially published on February 10 of the next year and served as the publisher. In May and April 1935, the Nationalist government bowed to Japan's unreasonable request for the publication of Yi Shui (AI Hansong) chatting about the emperor, ordered the publication of Sheng Sheng to stop, and sentenced him to one year and two months' imprisonment. In the last issue on June 30, the magazine published its article farewell to readers, encouraging readers with the spirit of endless struggle. He left Shanghai for Hong Kong in 1937.
