Laihe Bridge

Laihe bridge, the name of the bridge, is located in group 8, Erdun village, former Sandun Town, Pudong New Area. It was built in Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty, across Shuidong port. It is an important traffic route from Datuan to Shenjia wharf.

Shanghai Bridge name

According to legend, Laihe bridge was built by rural farmers to raise money. Shen Luzhen, a famous doctor, was the main donor. When the bridge was built, somehow, the stone beam was short. Just when the craftsmen were desperate, a crane flew in and asked Shen Luzhen to borrow a magic needle (Shen Luzhen is good at acupuncture. It's said that he had a magic needle to help him). He pricked a needle on the stone beam, but the stone beam stretched and just put it on the shelf. Laihe bridge was demolished and built in 1972 and changed into a cement bridge.

Name of Jinan Bridge

[Laihe bridge] originally a wooden bridge, the bridge is longitudinally from north to south, on the East Bank of Baotu Spring Pool and on the southwest side of wangheting. It was built by Zhang Heming, the governor of Licheng in Wanli period of Ming Dynasty, rebuilt by fan Shiying, the governor of Jinan in Tianqi period, and rebuilt by Shi Chenggong in Shunzhi period of Qing Dynasty. All of them are made of wood and later changed to flat stone bridge. When Baotu Spring Park was expanded in 1964, the stone slab was replaced. In 1975, carved stone railings were set on both sides of the bridge.
