Introduction to villages and towns

Xiayuan area has a long history of civilization. In the 25th year of Kaiyuan period of Tang Dynasty (AD 737), Yanzhou ancient city was built here, which was the site of jueji tribe of Qidan nationality. In the Liao and Jin Dynasties, Shuangquan temple was built. In the first year of Zhengtong period of Ming Dynasty (AD 1420), Wang Chengen, the eunuch of the imperial court, saw its beautiful scenery. Emperor yuzou canonized it as a royal garden, which was named Shangyuan and Xiayuan. Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty came here for hunting. When he walked to Fenghuang Mountain in the north of the village, he saw a large natural stone cave surrounded by green pines and cypresses. From afar, it looked like a magnificent landscape painting, so he named it "Chaoyang cave". In addition, there is "Taohua cave" on Taohua mountain. It's the sister cave of Chaoyang cave.

In addition to the annual "open exhibition of artists' studios", since May 2003, artists' studios and works have been open to tourists from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. every day.
