Dabei cable company is the name used by Danish international cable company to set up a telecommunication company in China. At the beginning of 1871, Dabei company opened in Tianwei Road, Gulangyu. In March of the same year, the Shanghai Hong Kong water line was laid, and the end of the line landed on Gulangyu Island. It was introduced into the company's foreign buildings and began to send and receive telegrams. It was one of the earliest places to send and receive telegrams in China. At that time, it was precisely because of the development of Telegraph and communication technology that Gulangyu, a small outlying island, established close ties with many countries in the world. In 1883, the company signed a contract with China's power administration, officially allowing it to land for business and borrow the cable water and land contact lines of Xiamen telegraph office for 20 years. Later, the company renewed the extension to the end of 1930, and formally set up telegraph receiving and dispatching offices in haihoutan, Xiamen and Tianwei Road, Gulangyu, respectively, to send and receive telegrams directly to the public. In addition, it has also performed the functions of the Danish Consulate. The existing buildings are colonial veranda buildings with single-layer brick and wood structure.
