Wangxian Pavilion

Wangxian Pavilion is located at the north entrance of Hangzhou Zhongshan South Road food street and the south side of Gulou, adjacent to Zhonghe viaduct. With a total height of 45 meters, it is the tallest building in this area, with three floors on the ground and one floor underground. From the three storey loft, you can see Hu Xueyan's former residence in the East, Wushan Chenghuang Pavilion in the west, Zhongshan food street in the South and Gulou yujiefang in the north. The prosperity of the Southern Song Dynasty seems to be at your feet. The first floor underground is to display archaeological relics in the form of protective cover, similar to the protection method of Leifeng Pagoda.

In the summer of 2010, a handicraft site of Southern Song Dynasty was excavated at the location of Wangxian Pavilion by Hangzhou Archaeology Institute. It is speculated that it is dye workshop, with an area of 13 m × 13 M. In order to protect the site, Hangzhou added a "protective cover", that is, a building was built on the site, like a cover.

The roof, overhanging eaves, lattice doors and copper ornaments of Wangxian Pavilion all have many characteristics of Song Dynasty architecture. In particular, the roof of Wangxian Pavilion is very distinctive. After the capital of Hangzhou was established in the Southern Song Dynasty, the building absorbed the local characteristics of Hangzhou. The roof was flat and easy to drain rainwater. The overhanging eaves were very deep. The longest overhanging eaves of Wangxian pavilion was about 4 meters long.

You can see all the customs, and the prosperity of the Southern Song Dynasty seems to be at your feet. Here you can view from the fence, with a wide field of vision, quiet in the noise, which makes people think about the ancient feelings. On the wooden wall of Wangxian Pavilion, there are historical materials about Hangzhou, the ancient capital of the Southern Song Dynasty, such as historical events, imperial city regulations, various industries in the capital, and local customs. There are text, map, painting and other forms that complement each other. They tell visitors about the prosperous city of the Southern Song Dynasty in the past, and show the spirit of the people of the Song Dynasty.
