Jinguo Museum

Jinguo Museum

Jinguo museum is the first special Museum of ruins in Shanxi Province built on Qucun Tianma site, a national key cultural relic protection unit. It is also the only complete platform to display Jin culture in China. The project covers a total area of 124000 M2 (including 52000 M2 outside the Museum), a building area of 13066 m2 and a greening area of 26993 m2.

Development history

In the core area of the site, nine groups of 19 tombs of Jin princes and their wives, 10 chariot pits and 12000 pieces of various precious cultural relics were discovered. Since the construction of the museum broke ground in 2009, the museum, which has the largest vehicle pit during the Shang and Zhou dynasties in China, has attracted much attention. The Chema pit is rectangular in plane, 21 meters long from east to west and 14 to 15 meters wide from north to south. 48 chariots and 105 horses were unearthed. It is the largest Chema pit found in Shang and Zhou dynasties in China, 600 years earlier than the Chema pit in Qin Shihuang mausoleum. As of June 21, 2014, the civil engineering project has been completed, and the work of exhibition, cultural relic reproduction and staffing is in progress. After completion, 1000 authentic cultural relics will be kept in the museum for exhibition.

After its trial operation on June 14, 2014, the museum was temporarily closed due to logistics support and other reasons. The museum has been officially opened on October 1, 2014. Friends who like history and sightseeing can go there by car or with a group. The ticket is 50 yuan.
