Xi Ma Temple

Sima temple is located in Liantang Town, Nanchang County, Nanchang city. It was built in the late Yuan and early Ming Dynasty. Also known as the Department of horse first pass, three general temple. According to folklore, it was built to commemorate the three virtuous generals Guo, Zhu and Wen under Zhu Yuanzhang. After historical changes, it became a traditional Buddhist temple. Now, the director of Jiangxi Buddhist Association is the abbot of master Chang, who is the key temple in Nanchang. For many years, Sima temple has been attracting believers from all over the world to carry forward Buddhism. It's a good place for Buddhist meditation.

historical origin

Sima temple, also known as Xiaolan Sima temple, formerly known as the first pass of Sima. It was built in the late Yuan and early Ming Dynasty. According to folklore, Zhu Yuanzhang had three generals, Guo, Zhu and Wen Yiwen, who led his troops to fight against Chen Youliang. After the defeat, he retreated to the north of the present xiaolanlishan village. Hiding in the jungle, I would rather starve than disturb the people until I starve to death.

The local people were grateful for their loyalty and prepared to build the general temple. Standing statue worship, incense is exuberant. Also known as the first level of the Department of horse.

Later, due to historical changes, the first pass of Sima was full of war and maintenance for many times. Many cultural relics have not been preserved to this day.

After the Nanchang Uprising, General Zhu De led his troops to withdraw from Nanchang, through the first pass of Ma, and stayed overnight.

After liberation, the first pass of Sima was used to run a textile factory. Later, the textile factory was relocated and the temple was restored. After continuous renovation and expansion, it has developed into a Buddhist place with an area of more than 10 mu and a construction area of more than 2000 square meters.

Later, due to the need of policy, the original site of the first pass of Sima was expropriated, and the temple was moved to the current site and renamed Xiaolan Sima temple.

Sima temple now covers an area of more than 10 mu, with various halls and ancillary buildings covering an area of 4000 square meters. At present, the main hall, Guanyin hall, general hall, dizangwang hall, Maitreya hall, Mountain Gate, etc. are built, and the attached buildings include Zhaitang, Jushi building, etc. Among them, three virtuous generals of the first rank of the horse are worshipped in the general hall. It is also a major feature of Sima temple. Large scale religious activities can be held. It also provides a place for the ten believers to worship Buddhism.

Current Abbot

Master Shi Chuan Chang, No. Zhitong, was born in Ningguo, Anhui Province.

In 1986, he became a monk in zhantanlin, Jiuhua Mountain, Anhui Province. In 1989, he received three great commandments at the Zhiyuan temple in Jiuhua Mountain. He graduated from Hongfu Temple Sangha school in Qianling mountain, Guiyang City in 1991. Since 1997, he has been the abbot of xiaolansima temple.

In 2009, he held a ceremony at Youmin temple in Nanchang. He is now the vice president of China Buddhist Association, the president of Jiangxi Buddhist Association and the abbot of Youmin temple.

In 2010, he was honorary president of Hong Kong Buddhist Association and President of Hong Kong Bodhi society at Xixi temple in Hong Kong, China. He inherited the lineage of Tiantai patriarchal clan and became the 46th generation.

He is now the director of Jiangxi Buddhist Association, the executive director of Nanchang Buddhist Association and Nanchang County Buddhist Association.

Master Chang traveled here from Jiuhua in 1997. In order to promote Buddhism, he vowed to repair and expand the Sima temple. After 20 years of fund-raising, Sima temple has today's scale. Master Zen is easy-going and compassionate. Those who are close to him are full of happiness.

Get along with merit

Today, the walls of Guanyin hall in Sima Temple fall off and the foundation cracks. It is in urgent need of renovation. Master Chang has vowed to spread the Dharma for many years. All the incense is used to build a temple for monks. It is urgent for the majority of Dharma protectors to help.

In the city, you can take 212 at the south entrance of Bayi Square (the south side of the telecommunication building) to the west entrance of Fangcao Road, then take No.235 or 526 to the north entrance of Gongye No.2 Road, then walk 100 meters ahead, turn right and walk 300 meters.

Honggutan can take bus 235 directly from Honggutan supporting center to the north entrance of Gongye 2nd road.
