Shechuan bridge in Jiushan Railway

The abandoned tunnel of shechuan bridge on the Jiushan line, which is similar to the movie scene of "hidden girl", has become a hot spot in Taiwan recently. However, on the premise that it has not been officially opened, access to the railway area must be through the mountain path beside the command platform of Liyu primary school. For this reason, there are no handrails and other safety facilities on the railway bridge, so visitors need to be extra careful.

The first generation neishechuan bridge was started in October of Meiji 37 and completed on October 30 of Meiji 40. It is composed of eight pyramid shaped piers and nine hole steel plate beams. The total length of the bridge is 185.6 meters, and the distance between the bridge deck and the water surface is 34.7 meters. It was also a very arduous and spectacular project at that time. After completion, it has become one of the key points of publicizing the political achievements of the governor's office of Taiwan. The great earthquake in April 1935 caused serious displacement of the piers and had to be rebuilt. But its reconstruction is no easier than yutengping bridge. In order to accommodate the location of No.6 and No.7 tunnels, the engineering unit chose to rebuild on site and adopt the steel beam advancing construction method. In xinnei shechuan bridge project, the old bridge piers are reinforced first, and the construction materials of the new bridge are transported by engineering trains. At the same time, four new bridge piers are built among the eight old bridge piers. After the completion of the new bridge piers, the new bridge truss is erected, then the steel plate beam of the old bridge is removed, and finally the old bridge piers are removed, which completes the alternation of the old and the new. Today, we can still find the original steel beam manufacturer's plate at both ends of the new bridge, which is marked with "made by Kawasaki Vehicle Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Ministry of Railways in the 13th year of Showa" as a proof of the age of bridge reconstruction.
