Duihekou reservoir is located on Yuying River, a tributary of Dongtiaoxi River in the west of Deqing County, Zhejiang Province. It is a large (second) type reservoir with flood control as the main purpose and comprehensive utilization of irrigation and power generation.

Duihekou reservoir is located on Yuying River, a tributary of Dongtiaoxi River in the west of Deqing County, Zhejiang Province. It is a large (second) type reservoir with flood control as the main purpose and comprehensive utilization of irrigation and power generation. The reservoir project was started in July 1958 and completed in August 1965. The controlled drainage area of the reservoir is 148.7 square kilometers, with a total capacity of 116 million cubic meters and a normal capacity of 44 million cubic meters. After the completion of the reinforcement project in 2003, the total capacity of the reservoir increased to 147 million cubic meters.

The main project of the reservoir consists of a variety of homogeneous earth dams with clay core wall, a secondary homogeneous earth dam, a spillway, a water conveyance tunnel, and a power station behind the dam with an installed capacity of 1360kw and 320kw respectively. Since the project was put into operation, more than 60 times of large and small floods have been intercepted. In order to ensure the flood control safety of Deqing County, Moganshan Economic Development Zone, 100000 mu of farmland in the downstream and 320000 mu of farmland in Hangjia plain indirectly, the project has brought about huge benefits. The irrigated farmland is about 35000 mu, and the average annual power generation of the reservoir is 5 million kwh, basically reaching the design benefits.

Key project

(1) The main dam is 292.5m long and 7.3m wide, and the auxiliary dam is homogeneous earth dam, 22m high and 123m long and 6.4m wide.

(2) The spillway structure is a spillway tunnel with a bottom elevation of 41.03 meters, a tunnel length of 59.1 meters and an inner diameter of 3.85 meters. The flat steel gate is set in the shaft, and the spillway bottom elevation is 51.0 meters. There is a 1.86-meter-high small earth dam on it. When the flood level reaches 52.75 meters, the dam is broken to overflow with a bottom width of 12 meters; and the water conveyance tunnel with an inlet elevation of 29.2 meters, an inner diameter of 2.5 meters and a length of 238 meters has been installed at the outlet of the tunnel The power generation steel pipes are listed in the middle section of the tunnel, and two 840kw hydropower stations are installed. The reservoir is mainly flood control, combined with irrigation power generation. The original design was based on the 100 year return period flood, and the 1000 year return period flood was checked. The design flood level was 52.75 meters, and the check flood level was 57.35 meters. The total storage capacity is 116 million cubic meters, the designed normal water level is 41.6 meters, and the corresponding storage capacity is 31.8 million cubic meters. In order to solve the problem of insufficient irrigation water due to the poor matching of canal system, the normal water level is controlled as follows: 42.0 m in Tai flood season and 44.0 m in Mei flood season.

Tourism development

Mogan lake is at the south foot of Mogan mountain. In 1960, Hekou reservoir barrage was built to store water, forming a large artificial lake. It covers an area of 3.7 square kilometers. Surrounded by mountains and luxuriant trees, the lake bank is full of twists and turns. Standing on an island in the middle of the lake, you can enjoy the scenery of the lake and the mountains. There is a hill stretching into the lake in the north, called Meimei peak. On the south side of the lake, there is a forest of flowers and fruits, planted with Myrica rubra, peach, chestnut and other fruit trees. It is like a paradise in the world.
