Gaoershi mountain

Gaoersi mountain is one of the scenic spots on national highway 318, with an altitude of 4659 meters, between Xindu bridge and Yajiang river. The road over Gaoersi mountain is asphalt, but the slope of the road is relatively high, and the road is deformed and uneven due to the long-term rolling of heavy trucks. Therefore, the road up the mountain is not very easy to walk. If zhedo mountain is the first pass of Kangba, then Gaoersi mountain is the second pass of Kangba. Moreover, it is one of the best places to survey the great snow mountains (Yala, zhedo and Gongga).

Main attractions

Gaoershi mountain is on the road of police station. Walking a few kilometers to zhusang Township Road, you can see the black stone city of gaoershi mountain (4300 meters above sea level). It is named after the mani mounds of cold and mysterious black stones. Although it is not known how this mysterious place was formed, the power of belief can still be felt from the desolate ruins in front of us.

At the same time, you can see Gongga Mountain, the king of Shu mountain. The scenery is quite spectacular, especially in the morning and evening.

Gaoersi mountain is a famous dangerous section on the South Sichuan Tibet line of national highway 318, located between Xinduqiao and Yajiang County in Kangding city. The total length of the tunnel is 5682 meters. The construction of the tunnel was started in May 2011. The elevation of the entrance and exit is about 4000 meters. Before the reconstruction, gaoershan road is narrow and the road condition is poor. There are many dangerous sections, which are prone to traffic accidents.

Gao'er temple is high in the mountains and seas. There are many curved roads, steep slopes, narrow roads, and poor road conditions. There are many dangerous sections. When many sections meet, they often just hold two cars. The wheels are very dangerous on the edge of the cliff, and even some places can't meet. Therefore, when meeting, pay attention to the observation, give way and drive carefully.

Tunnel open to traffic

The reconstruction project of national highway 318 from dongerluo to Haizishan (Donghai Road for short) started in 2011, which starts from dongerluo village, Xinduqiao Town, Kangding City, Ganzi Prefecture, and ends at Haizishan with a total length of about 275 km. Connect the reconstructed National Highway 318 from Haizishan to Zhubalong.

Gaoershan tunnel on Donghai Road of national highway 318 was opened to traffic on December 30, 2015. After opening to traffic, gaoershan tunnel has shortened the mileage by 21 km and saved about 1 hour. It only takes 2.5 hours from Kangding to Yajiang.

From Xinduqiao to Haizishan, Gaoersi mountain tunnel, together with jianziwan mountain tunnel and Litang tunnel crossing toluolaka mountain, can reduce three mountains above 4000 meters above sea level and shorten the driving distance to 5 hours, compared with at least 7 hours before. At the same time, the three tunnels will further reduce the impact of rain and snow, making the road to Tibet safer and more convenient.

Gaoershi mountain tunnel can not only pass by motor vehicles, but also by bicycles.
