Hongji Bridge

Hongji bridge is an ancient bridge. It is located between Qiaodong and Qiaoxi villages at the entrance of wangcunkou, Suichang County, Zhejiang Province. In ancient times, it was a thoroughfare (state) to enter Fujian.

It was built in the Ming Dynasty and was named Jichuan stone bridge at the beginning. After several times of construction, it was renamed Hongji bridge at the beginning of Guangxu. Now it is the x-foot wooden beam Gallery roof bridge. The bridge is 31 meters long, 5.4 meters wide and 9 meters high. There are four bridges crossing the river. The bridge is supported by two thick Castanopsis carlesii trees under the bridge. The bridge is covered with 9 tile houses. On August 26, the 24th year of the Republic of China, Hong Jiayun, political commissar of the second column of the Red Army advancing division and member of the Southwest Zhejiang special committee, announced the establishment of the wangcunkou Soviet government on the bridge. In June of the 25th year of the Republic of China, Xu Xinkun, Secretary of the CPC Southwest Zhejiang special committee, presided over a mass meeting on the bridge and made a speech on Anti Japanese war by Su Yu.
