Shiqi Catholic Church

Shiqi Catholic Church (also known as Notre Dame without original sin Church) is a relatively modern Gothic style church built in 1942 by the priest anpuling when he came to Zhongshan as the chief priest. It has a concrete and steel structure. The church sits in the north and south, with a green tile on the top, and the exterior wall painted with pink stone. The facade of the church is about 15 meters high. The bell tower is set at the top (never rings). There is a 1-meter-high cross on the top of the bell tower. On the right side of the church entrance, there is a spiral ladder straight up to the top bell tower. On both sides of the church, there are arcade style side corridors, which are convenient for cleaning the windows and the upper part of the church. It is also a kind of decoration. The inside of the church is like praying with folded hands, which has strong religious color and high architectural art. The church is symmetrically equipped with pointed arches and pointed arched windows, and is equipped with colorful glass. A large amount of light is injected from the colored windows, making the high ceiling float over the church, so that all people in the church have an invisible air, giving people a sense of upward sublimation and mysterious heaven. The church covers an area of about 600 square meters, with pictures of the crucifixion and resurrection on both sides of the inner wall. The altar is about 20 square meters, with a tall and kind statue of the virgin standing in the center. The whole altar is simple and gorgeous. Standing there, it seems to be in an isolated intangible world. In the nineties of last century, the church was simply decorated, with pink stone on the exterior wall, pink stone on the ground instead of the original uneven floor, and coffee colored chairs and stools, giving people a solemn, clean and generous feeling.
