Yingxiu earthquake site is an AAAA scenic spot, located in the South Gate of Aba Prefecture, 78km away from Chengdu. It is the only way in and out of Jiuzhaigou, Wolong and Siguniang mountain. It is an important traffic artery.

brief introduction

Yingxiu town is rich in water resources, with good water quality and large drop. Yingxiuwan power plant, Huaneng Taipingyi power plant, Futang Hydropower Plant and other hydropower stations have been built successively, which is the geographical name of meiyingxiu Town, the "hometown of Hydropower".

Yingxiu town is located in the South Gate of Aba Prefecture, 78km away from Chengdu. It is the only way in and out of Jiuzhaigou, Wolong and Siguniang mountain. It is an important traffic thoroughfare. The town has 1.800 mu of cultivated land and 4.950 mu of returned farmland. Yingxiu town actively responds to the call of the state and seriously implements the policy of returning farmland to forest (grass). Due to the decrease of cultivated land year by year, rural economic income is facing major problems. history

On May 12, 2008, an 8.0 earthquake occurred in Wenchuan County, Sichuan Province. Several strong aftershocks occurred in the following days. Yingxiu town is the epicenter and the hardest hit area. Most houses collapsed in the town and landslides occurred everywhere, resulting in water and electricity cut-off, communication and traffic interruption. By the afternoon of the 14th, only 2300 people had survived, and more than 1000 were seriously injured. The rescue team made every effort to repair the road and parachuted a large number of people to rescue. At the epicenter of the 5.12 Wenchuan earthquake, Yingxiu earthquake site is located in niumiangoukou, lianhuaxin and caijiagang village of Xuankou town above Baihua bridge in Yingxiu town. Wenchuan earthquake began to tear the earth from here. With the terrible sound, millions of cubic meters of rock fragments poured down from the steep cliffs, resulting in turbulent rock flow, zigzag along the valley. The mountains on both sides of several major valleys formed a nearly 3 km long rock flow and the focal landscape of nine mountain strike surfaces. The original niumiangou was instantly increased by 30 meters. In the Wenchuan earthquake, 80% of the roads along the Duwen highway were damaged, more than 10 kilometers of road sections were completely covered by collapsed mountains, more than 50 bridges were damaged, 7 bridges completely collapsed, and dozens of landslides. At the intersection of Yingxiu town in Wenchuan County, there stands a huge stone with the big characters of "Yingxiu, the epicenter of the May 12 earthquake", which are particularly eye-catching. This huge stone was rolled down by the mountain during the earthquake, and now it has become a landmark road sign of Yingxiu, the epicenter of the earthquake.

Tourism information

Self driving: Yutang section of Duwen Expressway (National Highway 317) has been connected with Chengguan expressway.
