This little red mansion has recorded records for many famous singers in history, such as Zhou Xuan, Yao Li, Li Xianglan, etc. China's famous songs "March of the volunteers" and "nocturnal incense" were also created here. In 2005, Shanghai Municipal People's government announced it as an excellent historical building.

Now xiaohonglou has been changed into a western restaurant, Martin restaurant, specializing in Chinese and western creative fusion dishes. In 2010, Spanish Prime Minister Zapatero came here for dinner. Tourist attractions need to be reserved in advance and limited to 10 tourists per day.

Site of EMI

EMI is the largest record manufacturing and management company in old China. In 1908, EMI brothers set up branches in Shanghai, Hong Kong and other places. Located in today's Xujiahui Park, a three story "little red building" was one of the offices of EMI. In 1952, he worked for Shanghai record factory of China Record Corporation.

In the 1930s and 1940s, a large number of progressive patriotic, anti Japanese and national salvation revolutionary songs were born in EMI company during the Anti Japanese war. Many of the film music creation and recording are carried out in the company, such as Nie Er, Li Jinguang, Xian Xinghai and other famous composers have worked or recorded songs in EMI. In 1934, Nie Er became director of the Music Department of EMI record company. During this period, he wrote more than 30 songs, such as "song of the miner", "song of the road" and "March of the volunteers" (later the National Anthem of the people's Republic of China) for the film "children of the storm".
